I am happy that there may be progress. Statistically victims in cases like these are killed within 4 hours. I do hope this young lady is an exception.

If she's dead, God help him because the prosecution won't... and shouldn't.

Everyone out there should teach their kids to NEVER go with anyone, no matter what they threaten. Your odds of living if you stay and fight are much better than if you let them take you away. Even if shown a gun or a knife, you should stay and fight. These guys are cowards, and the minute they think they are going to have attention drawn to them they will back off.

Suspect in custody in case of missing 11-year-old girl
BY MITCH STACY
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
SARASOTA -- A suspect was being questioned by investigators Wednesday in connection with the disappearance of an 11-year-old girl, who was apparently kidnapped while walking home from a friend's house, officials said. The girl's whereabouts were not immediately known.
Joseph P. Smith, 37, was in custody on unrelated charges which sheriff's officials did not specify. Smith's car, a Buick Century station wagon, was being combed by sheriff's investigators in a search for clues in the disappearance of Carlie Brucia, who has been missing since Sunday.
Sheriff Bill Balkwill said investigators were led to Smith after a tip was phoned in by a citizen.

This is one of the cases where I think torture should be allowed - this case and that poor girl in the Dakotas. These animals should not be treated like real humans!

You are right of course, but you should know that some schools teach kids NOT to fight back. Sickening.

I hope I don't get slammed but ...
She doesn't look like she's resisting going with the guy in the video. And now we find that she and her mom are at odds by the letters they've found.
There's more to this than a simply kidnapping. Probably another Smart case!

She doesn't look like she's resisting going with the guy in the video. Some people are very convincing. He might have laid on a "your mother was hurt in an accident" story...butressed by his uniform.

Not slamming you, but another thread mentions that the perp had a gun which he showed her. Apparently this showed up when they enhanced the tapes.

he had a gun and she didn't fight because she was scared. for heaven's sake, she's only 11.

The girl was taken from behind a closed car wash on an early evening, sun still out. I'm sure it was deserted and if the perp had a gun, she didn't have much choice.
