KEY WEST (AP) A New York tourist called police to report that several items were stolen from his hotel room, including some high quality Bahamian marijuana.
Thirty-three-year-old Jim Devlin, of East Meadow, New York, filed the report early yesterday morning. That's according to Key West police. He was not charged because no marijuana was found.
Devlin -- who told police he's an investment banker -- also claimed 50 dollars and a watch were also stolen. He declined to tell police the amount or worth of the allegedly missing marijuana.
Devlin's story to police fluctuated wildly. He told police that the alleged missing watch was worth 18-hundred dollars, then 30-thousand dollars, then three-thousand dollars. He also said a 20-thousand dollar Rolex was left in an in-room vault at the Hilton.

OK, so this guy does not yet qualify for a Darwin Award, but he's probably well on the way.......

You'd think even a pothead would have some semblance of common sense left? Maybe? Maybe not.

He's not a bit stupid! When the police recover some marijuana, they'll know who it belongs to and give it to him.

Well. Bud Krieger is not me, but was a character on a famous TV show. If you are a fan of " All in the Family" you may know who the character is.

"...who told police he's an investment banker"
Responsible for other people's money and can't even decide how much of his own was missing. It' up in smoke now.

Another version of the story from a different source:
Key West: A NY tourist called police to report that his hotel room had been burglarized. When Mr Jim Devlin, 33, of East Meadow, NY filied his report early monday he stated that the itmes taken were his watch,$50 cash an some high quality Bahamain Marijuana. Devlin, who told police that he's an investment banker declined to state the value of the missing marijuana. " I only want to report the watch not the money or the weed, because I dont want to tell you how much weed there was," Mr Devlin was quoted as saying. During Mr. Devlin's statement to police his storey fluctuated wildly and he told police that the alleged missing watch was worth $1,800 then $30,000 and then he said there was a Rolex valued at $3,000 left in the in-room safe.
