Link between ricin, anthrax mailings?
WASHINGTON - The discovery of ricin in a Senate office building has prompted the FBI and other federal investigators to consider whether the case could be connected to the unsolved anthrax attacks of late 2001, which killed five people and sickened 17 others.
Investigators and lawmakers stressed Tuesday that it was much too soon to determine if there is any link between the cases. But FBI and postal officials noted a number of superficial similarities.
"That is obviously one of the main lines of inquiry that we're pursuing," one FBI official said Tuesday. "There are a lot of similarities that certainly raise the possibility of a connection."
Authorities Tuesday were also investigating a powder found in an envelope addressed to the Republican National Committee at the same Connecticut mail distribution center where anthrax spores were found in 2001.

Lets see. Daschel got the Anthrax, then Frist got the Ricin.
Could it be the dems responding to what they believe is the vast right wing conspiracy ?
It would explain their reluctance to go after WMD .....
( Yes I'm JOKING for those who don't grasp it yet ).

I can't help but wonder if a disgruntled Demoncrat sent it since the anthrax mailings haven't nailed anyone yet and they are obsessing over unseating Bush.

My impression is that ricin is a lot easier to obtain/make, than anthrax.
In fact the weapons grade anthrax had to be made in a sophisticated lab, as in Iraq, vs. in a home lab.
I wonder how hard it is to make ricin in powder form. The ricin sent to Bush was in liquid form, also I read that the UN inspectors found 10 liters of ricin in Iraq in 1998, just before they were kicked out. So apparently Saddam had it in a liquid form -- at least at that time.
But the ricin sent to the Senate was in powder form.

You are right, probably more than one -- which has been carefully created years ago, for such situations.
But he did make the mistake in tipping his hand, by using those to play around -- that's what got him banned.
So now he has to be very careful, so people don't even suspect, or that those who may suspect, will keep it to themselves. ;)

"Time to drain that pond again, what?"
Great link -- I didn't realize the CIA had this much stuff about Iraq's WMD on the web.
You are right -- it's time for the FBI to drain another pond and try to figure out, how Hatfill could have slipped away the make and mail the ricin letter.

Don't look at me -- I didn't make the stuff up.
The FBI said that is their main theory.

Don't look at me -- I didn't make the stuff up. A question was posed - I answered it. Any questions?

But how can they blame this on Hatfill, when they have been shadowing him 24/7 for the past two years? It just goes to show what a diabolical genius Hatfill is!

There was no "letter to Frist". Rather, there was a contaminated piece of equipment that ended up over in Frist's mailroom.
