Well, I don't trust Estrich, and we have a lot more about Kerry's positions that matter than his clinton-style womanizing. I just can't wait for the "real" campaign to begin. Once the candidate emerges, we will see some response to the ridiculous demagoguery that has infected us for six months. It can't happen soon enough, for me.

It's clear who you were speaking of. You could at least be honest.

It's clear to YOU because you have a big head.

I HONESTLY said why I posted it. As a matter of FACT, if you go back to the earlier parts of this thread I even posted, "so, let's start a betting pool on when the trolls are going to enter telling us we are morons and our posts are silly".

So here's a more honest response to you attacking my honesty: Go Kerry Yourself!

It was a valid observation based on fact. I did not call you a name, but you certainly have slung a lot of them toward others. Reread CongressmanBillyBob's post to you. He gave you good advice...w/out charge. It would be wise for you to follow it.

You all had no reason to do what you did and that's all there is to it. I was discussing the topic of this thread politely and 7 of you opened up on me at once just because Howlin queied you up. Like I said, think for yourself.

Well, let us begin with the proposition that Kerry is no Daniel Patrick Moynihan or Scoop Jackson Democrat. Let us further agree that the Democrat party does not bring out the best in politicians at present, at least as we see the landscape. And then let us go from there. How many centrist Democrats in the hunt for the gold have not tacked for power in ways that go in directions with which we find favor? Does that mean they are really all unfit for power, when faced with the awesome responsibility of keeping the fruited plain fruited? Maybe, but I think that is a bit over pessimistic. In the end, the real policy choices that are available are fairly narrow, for those that are reasonably responsible.

But for the moment, I agree with Jimrob, that the best course is to defeat nearly all Democrats running for any federal office. For the moment. Not because I hate them, or think they are evil in general, but just because certain issues need to be resolved about which the Dems are near totally useless and inimical to the proper course, and need to get that message. But life will go on reasonably well I hope and trust whether they are in or not.

Let's start a "betting pool" on what time the first whiner comes into this thread to declare it's a "waste of time" and all "stupid silly posts", etc.

On that task you ask of me, a couple of days ago, about finding someone who could explain how are intel. should know more then SH. If you think I am going to become another Diogenes, do not expect a ping.

You're a broken record. You couldn't care less about the substance of your argument, you only want to whine about those that disagreed with you.

You sound just like every single Democrat running for President. You sound like Howard Dean when he complained to Terry McAwful..."make them stop picking on me".

Sad. Very sad and pitiful. Join Edwards "2nd America" and whine and claim victimhood and make him your President to fight against all those evil people out there not handing you their hard earned money so you can sit at home getting fat watching TV.

Oh, the cruel world you have to live in. I'm almost brought to tears...of laughter.

From your link:

"Kerry's 1971 testimony includes every left-wing cliché about Vietnam and the men who served there. It is part of the reason that even today, people who are too young to remember Vietnam are predisposed to believe the worst about the Vietnam War and those who fought it."

" How many centrist Democrats in the hunt for the gold have not tacked for power in ways that go in directions with which we find favor?"

And, what if, (as Rumsfeld would say) I don't agree with the premise of your question? What if I don't agree that Kerry, the favorite son of the state Mass and of Teddy Kennedy, is a centrist? I don't go any further from that. You can dress Kerry up many ways, but you can't make him a "centrist" democrat.

But life will go on reasonably well I hope and trust whether they are in or not.

Were we discussing Lieberman, Breaux, Bayh or Nelson I would agree with you even thoguh I have varying degrees of ideological differences with each.

Each of these men recognises, althoguh after the fact, the dangers emanating from an unchecked ME. Kerry has stated unequivocally that the dangers are "exaggerated".

By the way, John Kerry was one of 12 senators who cast a vote against DOMA. The wind has blown his hair in the direction of protecting marriage. How do you suppose he squares that circle?

Would he have signed that legislation? No.

Would he have signed legislation banning Partial birth abortion? No.

Here's another circle he can't square. The only spending he has ever voted to cut was spending on the military. Yet he ranted and raved about not having enough combat troops to do the job.

His day of reckoning is coming.

I hope. :-}

Some of what is in the piece is not from Kerry's mouth. I do know, from talking from some who fought in Nam, over some beers. that some terrible things were done over there. It was an insane time. The guys in the field, were basically left to the regime of the Lord of the Flies. The military was in a sad way, in every way, with an unfit commander in chief, and then discipline went into the dumpster, drugs came in. It was all quite a horror show. It was one of those epsisodes that will never happen again, primarily due to technology, and a lesson learned.

Kerry should be asked more about this, of course, much more. But if he answers honestly, and is not proved to be a liar about it, I think it will enhance his reputation, not diminish it. We shall see.

Good article. Exactly why I consider Kerry dangerous. He turned his back on his fellow veterans so treason would be meaningless to him.

Ya, the centrist bit was a bit rhetorical, but Kerry has strayed from the liberal plantation from time to time, only to run back into his cell, when it appeared he would be exposed to unfriendly fire, that would interfere with his ambition to be president. Kerry was not in a position to cruise above that cesspool, known as politics for the politically ambitious.

But that's the point. The majority of men in Detroit who told him these stories which he then repeated were lying. They never served in the Nam or they never served in the units they claimed to have.

John Kerry bears a big part of the blame for the Vietnam Vet steroeotype of crazed, drugged killers hanging on street corners with stains on the front of their pants. The overwhelming majority of Vietnam Vets bore no resemblance to that stereotype that encourage the spitting and name calling. I know because I served with loads of them in 75 and 76.
