[history]
Whatever the merits of the legal case California Attorney General Bill Lockyer is pursuing against the grocery stores involved in an ongoing labor dispute, his behavior has suggested that he is a partisan actor rather than a fair-minded advocate of justice. That's not good for the appearance of impartiality that is the foundation of California's legal system.

Why the surprise? Who doesn't know that the unions OWN every elected democrat in California? If the unions ordered Locklear to "key" management cars, he'd do it.
Watch what happens if the unions push their politicians too hard on this. One or more of the supermarket chains will simply leave California. Many other business have simply said that the politicians in Sacremento, acting on behalf of their special interest backers, have made California much to expensive and arbitrary and have left the state.

Darn Norm, you post some really good California threads but they languish here in Calgov.
Times are a changing in the grocer business. We have a Winco Foods here in Eureka and they are employee owned. It is a big store (former Sears) and they do not advertise and knock that expense off the prices. They have a huge bulk foods section. Winco now has over 30 stores in the Northwest. After they came to town Safeway told its employees take a cut or bye bye.

Isn't competition wonderful for the consumer. Without it, we would be paying $10 for a quart milk and more for a loaf of bread.
Eureka has some Ray's doesn't it. What a great little chain they are.

What an absolute vile State Attorney General this maggot is.
He, Davis and half of Sacramento took bribes from Whoreacle, while he wasted millions of our tax $'s suing Microsoft because they wouldn't donate money to the rats.
He threatened to put utility companies execs in jail for daring to ask California to stick to contracts and not bowing down to Herr Davis.

Isn't the union a monopoly having control of employees of several stores at once instead of separate unions for separate stores?

A sane person would agree with you: "Isn't the union a monopoly having control of employees of several stores at once instead of separate unions for separate stores?"

Yes we have a Rays but it's out of our way. It's at the south end of the Bay Shore Mall on 101. My wife shops 2 or 3 times a week at Safeway for the small stuff but once a month or more we put on our track shoes and shop at Winco. I forget how many square feet it occupies. And then there is the twice a month binge at Costco...
