Sen. Bob Graham was just on c-span washington journal and mentioned both International Terrorism and Al Qeada, my question is...

is Al Qaeda part of International Terrorism or is Al Qeada the umbrella organization for all Organized Terrorist Organizations that make up International Terrorism? ...rto

That's a great question!

The way the media and pols have been redefining AQ, it has almost become synonomous with all terrorism.

AQ is a terrorist group and significant support group for certain other terrorist groups.

Part of the beauty of the Bush Doctrin is that it doesn't differentiate. The conquest of Iraq is thus justified. The international terrorists who declared war on the U.S. Sept. 11, 2001, are by intention a loose, nebulous network, ill-defined and defiant of identification. To attack one part of it is about as good as attacking another part of it.

Bush wisely selected the Saddam Tikriti regime in Iraq because it was probably the most strategically advantageous part of this loose network to take over. He now has a solid military presence and intelligence-gathering network in the heart of enemy territory, unencumbered by the political vagaries of Saudi Arabia, and this has made it possible to fight the terrorists on their home turf, as well as it can be defined, and not in the United States, where they had intended to wage their war. Furthermore he removed a corrupt regime, thus preventing its service as a support for the terrorists.

His incidental removal of a brutal dictatorship and liberation of the Iraqi people is a good thing but beside the point.

The presence or absence of "weapons of mass destruction" is also beside the point, the constant carping of Bush's opponents notwithstanding. Their focus on this is nothing more than "Liberal", Democrat propaganda.

The War on Terror is a new kind of war, a new variation on guerilla warfare. Bush is waging it masterfully.

Bush must be re-elected.

Anyone who doubts this needs to take a good look at the Democrat candidates. One trembles at the thought of one of these loose cannons in control of our defense.

One need also reflect upon this: The September 11 attack has not been repeated. This is not because the terrorists do not want to repeat such an attack--and not because they have not tried.

It is because of the vigilance, intelligence, resolve, wisdom--and ability--of President Bush.

We cannot take a chance on letting some aging, empty headed '60's hippy or some mindless useful idiot or some self-serving lawyer take charge of our defense.

If you enjoyed the Superbowl--reflect on this: The terrorists would have loved to detonate a bomb or crash an airliner into the stadium. The only reason they didn't is because they couldn't. And the only reason they couldn't is the expertise and skill of George Bush!

The same can be said of the Times Square New Years Eve celebration! And countless other American experiences that take place every day.

There is no doubt that some other leader could protect us as well--but he or she has not been identified. And anyone who would entrust such a responsibility to any of these Democrat presidential wanna-bes is just plain nuts.

For these reasons--and others as well--President Bush absolutely must be re-elected.

The short answer is that Al Qaeda is part of International Terrorism. Just that you don't get affected by the other types..

Sen. Bob Graham seemed to seperate the two when he explained his vote against Operation Iraqi Freedom, he critizied President Bush for invading Iraq instead of staying in Afghanistan and finishing off AQ, I think he was trying to keep the two seperate, otherwise his argument against OIF is no longer valid, nor should it be! ...rto

Graham is not dumb and has been around the intelligence community for a long time. He's also a pol, and since he was considering a presidential run, well ....

As President Bush said in an address to Congress on September 20, 2001, "Our war on terror begins with al-Qaida, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated." ( http://www.state.gov/s/ct/rls/pgtrpt/ )
