Suspicious Package (Stuffed Animal?) Outside Senate Buildings Causes Evacuation

Local Channel 5 in D.C. is reporting the Capitol Police have ordered the streets around the Senate office buildings evacuated after a suspicious package was found. The item is reported to be a stuffed toy animal.

Thanks. Still not well, but not as bad. This morning I heard the news reporting tours were cancelled.

This sucks...ricin at a mail facility, and social security check day is today. Those little windows in those envelopes aren't sealed.

Brett Baer reporting from the Pentagon. Three tests at the Naval Medical Research Center at Silver Spring, Md. confirm ricin.

Continuing testing for biological agents. Mentioned Iraq was reported to have been seeking ways to combine ricin with biological agents.

Nope, just aware of the possibility of cross-contamintion. At that point who knew that the post offices involved were confined to the east coast? I figured that if an envelope could be mailed there, another one could be mailed anywhere and the stuff spread before it was detected.

Sounds like the Capital Hill police have asked for the military to get involved in helping them. Pentagon is confirming the military will become involved.
