Statement regarding the Super Bowl halftime show
NFL ^

Statement by NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue regarding the Super Bowl halftime show:
"We were extremely disappointed by the MTV-produced halftime show. It was totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.
"The show was offensive, inappropriate and embarrassing to us and our fans. We will change our policy, our people and our processes for managing the halftime entertainment in the future in order to deal far more effectively with the quality of this aspect of the Super Bowl."

Translation: "Yawn. There will be no consequences for past shows as far as we're concerned. We rotate the people who get to work on Super Bowl entertainment anyway. You fans will get over it."

Next year bring on Senor Wenses and his old Ed Sullivan act for halftime entertainment. Low rent, but at least nobody will miss a striptease on their way to the concession stands.

Here is what I think....Next year Tagliabue should be forced to go out and stand on stage with a sign that says.....WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY OF MY BOSSES...THE NFL OWNERS
I think that would be good.

Maybe NFL should put Peter Jennings in charge of next year's halftime. Remember how he basically banned Toby Keith from performing Angry American, because of the 'dirty' lyrics of 'we'll put a boot in your a--?

I have the solution. Next year, NO musical halftime program. Period. The Hall Of Fame inductes are announced earlier in the month of January, so devote the halftime show to the inductees, with video clip hlghlights acompanying each inductee. Have them flown to the site of the Super Bowl, and appear on the field.
If that idea seems too boring, how 'bout a comedy show? Put the Blue Collar Comedy Tour (with a black guy thrown in, for diverrrrrrrsity's sake) on the field. They're funny, and they don't use bad language. If that idea doesn't float your proverbial boat, do something crazy, like the NFL Talent Show. Get the 5 bigest stars in the NFL do an American Idol style singing contest for charity. Anything is better than the crap that we endured last night.
No real football fan wants to see Nelly, Timberlake or Jackson. Keep the perverts, Queer Eyes and disinterested women OUT of Super Bowl Sunday. They hijack every other aspect of our lives, they should keep out of this one. The women can watch a weasly Hugh Grant movie on ABC, the light in the loafer crowd can go to Bravo, man-haters can watch Lifetime, and guys who MUST see half-naked women can order the inevitible pay-per view "Bikini Bowl" special.
There, The Good Captian solves another problem! Next?

(Somebody's gotta say these things...It might as well be ME!!!)
Senor Wences, a ventriloquist who talked to his lipstick-smeared hand and a wooden head in a box.
"This guy would take his fist, draw a crude red mouth on it, glue on huge lifeless, reptilian eyes, attach a limp stuffed "body" and last but not least, the androgynous blonde wig. The result was one of the erriest television spectors ever to be viewed by man." ---- until last night at halftime.

I miss Pete Rozelle. Amen to that..Pete Rozelle is, and will always be the foremost head of any pro sports organization..talk about "think outside the box"..he was the first to nationalize a league..use prime time as an asset..understand tv for the power that it has..the Super Bowl is a fitting tribute to his vision and intellect..

As a fellow conservative, this may dis some. I love A breast! Many will say that they never watch a "porno"
There is nothing wrong with that, But the Super Bowl antics of MTV CBS and whomever were wrong. I never had a problem wearing a thong bathing suit on a beach, but not when children were there.

So who's job was it to oversee this fiasco? They either didn't do their job or they approved of it. Either way, all are culpable.
To: GrinFranklin
if Tagliabue really wanted to scold CBS, make them skip a turn to carry the super bowl. let fox or abc take an extra turn.

Post-show antics, such as this, are just
part of the show. Don't believe everything you hear.
