FRom the DNC site - McAuliffe Bio

excerpted

For the first time in Democratic Party history, under the leadership of Chairman McAuliffe, the DNC is debt free. The new 21st century Democratic Headquarters on Capitol Hill has been prepaid, therefore every dollar raised by the DNC during this cycle will be spent to win back the White House in 2004.

For Terry McAuliffe, love of politics and the Democratic Party is a family value. When he was growing up in Syracuse, New York, his father served as Treasurer of the County Democratic organization. From an early age, McAuliffe walked precincts and attended Party functions with his father.

After graduating from Catholic University of America, McAuliffe immediately became active in national politics, signing on with the Carter-Mondale Reelection Committee. It was during this campaign that he wrestled an alligator on a dare from a fund-raising prospect and he has been wrestling with tough challenges ever since. He has served as Finance Director of the DNC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, National Finance Chairman and then National Co-Chairman of the Clinton-Gore re-election committee. He also served as the Chairman of the 53rd Presidential Inaugural Committee. In 2000, McAuliffe chaired the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles; the convention that helped give the Democratic ticket a 20-point bounce in the polls, on its way to a popular vote victory in the fall.

McAuliffe has been a successful entrepreneur since he started his first business, McAuliffe Driveway Maintenance, when he was only 14 years old. He is an attorney, having received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1984, and a business leader in the fields of banking, insurance, marketing and real estate.

Bush needs to go in for the kill on this one, if he doesn't, I for one will be pi$$ed.

I understand what you mean but this kind of talk scares me. It better not just be just one man, Bush, and a lot of money against this dem machine. This is where the dems excel. They organize like socialists (because they are socialists!). This is going to take team effort including our Congress-critters and Senators to start playing hardball with these liberals and go after effin Kerry, dig up the dirt and nail this bastard. Right now, we have one man up there, Bush, basically all by himself the way I see it. The friggin Republican controlled Congress is a joke. What the heck are they doing up there? Playing cards? They should be doing more of the dirty work, blocking and tackling liberals, while allowing Bush to remain more Presidential.

Hey, you got a point ~ let's go get a boat and some Viet Cong and do it again ~ the right way this time, eh?!

Look, the guy's got baggage in fighting the Cold War. He's got baggage in his post Viet Nam War anti-war activities, and he's got baggage in the way he got into the military ~~ at the time enlistment in the Navy or Air Force was tantamount to draftdodging.

But when it comes to doing what he was supposed to do while in the service, his record looks pretty normal.

What is the srory of his Silver Star? The Silver Star has been a political issue before. How did Kerry get his?
Not gossip, the facts as they are best known.

The main point is that the subject was brought up in the way of reports, roundtable discussions or interviews with guests.

I'm not about to attempt to paraphrase what I heard, other than to say that I noticed a pattern in the discourse of at least 3 different cable yack shows tonight......and the object under the radar was not Janet and her nipple plate.

Remember how the liberals took on the real Kerry (From Nebrasks who was awarded the MOH?)

That was a disgusting circus of anti-military sentiments within the rats.

They accused him of killing innocent women and children, something that the bogus Kerry (ketchup boy) sided with Hanoi jane on in 1971 in his treasonous congressional "winter soldier" testimony.

Nuke him 'till he glows.

Not easy to ridicule a man wearing a Silver Star either, Assuming He earned the right to wear it.

You have no idea the way that Bush is going to blast the Democrats when the time is right.

I hope you're right, but I remember hearing the same thing said of his father in his campaign against The 'Toon. I kept waiting for Bush Sr. to blast The 'Toon right up to Election Day--it never happened, and The 'Toon won.

"They" are going to destroy President Bush. This election will make 2000 look like a picnic. I hate to say this, but it is my gut feeling. They are going to slaughter him over the war, "intelligence failures" and the deficit. I don't think Bush will be our president this time next year. :-(

I agree it looks like they're going to go viciously after Bush's strongest selling-point, National Security. And I believe too, that if the Rats succeed in knocking that down to the point where it's not a factor, they will win. They're the ones with the growing demographic base (non-whites) today, and they're the ones who (counting Nader) took 51 percent last time round.

Also it will be harder for the GOP to paint Kerry as the Dukakis that he is, because of Kerry's Vietnam record, and because he doesn't look as wimpy as Miracle Mike.

That said, there's a lot the GOP can and will do to defend and drive home Bush's strongest selling point between now and then, and to define Kerry, despite his war resume, as someone who'd offer less security to Americans.

Some of the possible Bush 04 ads nearly write themselves. They could just do Willie Horton '88 over with captured al Qaeda terrorists in place of WH. (actually with Lt Gov. Kerry they could just do the actual Horton ads, but that's a different story)

(cue somber music) "This is top Al Qaeda terrorist and 9-11 conspirator Khalid Shaikh Mohammed:"

"President Bush led a successful and difficult effort to capture him. But he had to do it despite the efforts of liberals like John Kerry, who, over the years, made the following 245 votes in the Senate (scroll votes over bad photo of JK) to weaken our ability to protect the country and catch terrorists. There are more Shaikh Mohammeds out there. Who do you trust to catch them? "(Fade to "Bush/Cheney 2004".)

Now the Brown Water Navy was in a lot of fighting but we are not that sure of Kerry, everything he did was suspect.
