Janet Apologizes, Says Super Bowl Stunt Went Too Far
One day after Janet Jackson's shocking Super Bowl halftime performance, the singer took responsibility for the breast-baring incident and said she never intended the stunt to go as far as it did.
"The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime show performance was made after final rehearsals," Jackson said in a statement released Monday (February 2). "MTV was completely unaware of it. It was not my intention that it go as far as it did. I apologize to anyone offended including the audience, MTV, CBS and the NFL."
Jackson's performance shocked onlookers when Justin Timberlake who was performing with her pulled off a piece of Jackson's costume, revealing her right breast.
MTV, which produced the halftime show for CBS, issued an apology shortly after the show, calling the incident "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and ... inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance" (see "Janet, Justin, MTV Apologize For Super Bowl Flash").
Timberlake also apologized on Sunday, calling the incident "not intentional and regrettable."
On Sunday, Jackson's reps told MTV News that the singer apologized for the move, but the singer issued no public statement on the incident until Monday.

Thats bull, if a guy wants to see that they will choose the appropriate time, which will likely not be when you are sitting with your 12 year old kid. I know you disagree but most guys are not morons.

I missed the actual incident, but heard that the performance was getting a bit violent, with Justin spanking Janet before ripping her cloths off.

Unlike her brother, at least Ms. Jackson is accepting responsibility.
<<
She accepeted responsibility for nothing, as far as I can tell. She apologized to those who were "offended"...but never accepted blame for anything.
Did I miss it?

Too bad, Janet. If you and MTV and such weren't so interested in getting the 18 year old's and younger to spend their money; you wouldn't need to resort to this cheapness. But, alas the almighty dollar wins again.
Sooner or later; you guys are going to pay big time. What goes around comes around.

The next thing you know someone may find out Brittany isn't a virgin . .Hell, that's probably coming next, at the Grammys - Britney will prove she isn't a virgin. Gotta keep upping the sleaze level, you know.

She can say she's sorry now..
After all, the desired effect has been reached - every news program, every talk show on radio and TV, every newspaper, magazine, water cooler conversation and net based political forum in America is now talking about her and her tit.
Those who are offended by it were generally not fans anyway. Nothing lost, huge gain.. Whats not to like? (If you're Janet..)

It is truely shocking to see an bare breast of a woman on national TV, instead of the perfectly fine murder, beating, blood spilling, head chopping, head blowing off, limbs ripping, regular rape and violence that we all see every day on TV.
What a sick and perverted society.

What did the NFL and CBS think they were gonna get from MTV?

If you look at the cup that did not break away there were eleven to thirtenn snaps on it, if you look at the one that did break away it have four or five snaps. This was planned.

This sounds like it was written by lawyers, as I'm sure it was.

It appeared to me Janet's costume was made to break-away, so in my opinion the stunt was planned far in advance. It also looks like she is stepping up and taking the heat for some execs who may have lied about knowing about it in advance.

"MTV was completely unaware of it. It was not my intention that it go as far as it did..." When those involved with this slutty stunt are placed under oath by the FCC, I'm sure the above will also be exposed as a lie.

What a sick and perverted society. You're right. Gosh, the NFL usually has their cannibalism halftime ceremony and satanic ritual rite each year instead. (/sarcasm)

I think this helped Janet a lot. Do any of the people offended by what she did buy her CD's? Not likely.
