Janet Apologizes, Says Super Bowl Stunt Went Too Far
One day after Janet Jackson's shocking Super Bowl halftime performance, the singer took responsibility for the breast-baring incident and said she never intended the stunt to go as far as it did.
"The decision to have a costume reveal at the end of my halftime show performance was made after final rehearsals," Jackson said in a statement released Monday (February 2). "MTV was completely unaware of it. It was not my intention that it go as far as it did. I apologize to anyone offended including the audience, MTV, CBS and the NFL."
Jackson's performance shocked onlookers when Justin Timberlake who was performing with her pulled off a piece of Jackson's costume, revealing her right breast.
MTV, which produced the halftime show for CBS, issued an apology shortly after the show, calling the incident "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and ... inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance" (see "Janet, Justin, MTV Apologize For Super Bowl Flash").
Timberlake also apologized on Sunday, calling the incident "not intentional and regrettable."
On Sunday, Jackson's reps told MTV News that the singer apologized for the move, but the singer issued no public statement on the incident until Monday.

It appeared to me Janet's costume was made to break-away, so in my opinion the stunt was planned far in advance. They just didn't do it during their rehearsals in front of the CBS officials.

Fine. The DA needs to charge Janet with Public indecency and Justin with sexual assault. That will send a very loud message to the Hollyweirds.

Too little, too late, Janet. The damage has been done, and if you had it all to do over, you know you'd do it again. Talentless slut.

The only women I know of who wear pasties have every intention of bearing their breasts in public.

They are all lying. If freepers knew about something shocking happening, you can bet MTV and everybody else did too.
Besides, the damage is done. You can't unring a bell. The little ones' minds have been imprinted.

Unlike her brother, at least Ms. Jackson is accepting responsibility.

Yup, no doubt. The problem was the producers of the show apparently thought they were doing the MTV Video Awards or something, where such a stunt would have fit right in. Seldom have creators of a show so misjudged their audience. Idiots.

Lying whore.

A lot of people initially said that Janet had a pastie or a tassle on her right breast, but as evidenced by the picture on Drudge, it is apparent that that "pastie" is merely something held in place on her nipple by a nipple piercing (OUCH!). What a dirtbag.

OK, they are sorry.
That makes it all better.
To: yhwhsman
Guys watching the show (besides the CBS execs) didn't care whether it was rehearsed or not.
They finally got what they wanted in a halftime show.

So JJ says it was planned, and JT says it was a costume malfunction. They can't even get their stories straight!

Fifty years ago Jack Paar couldn't say the words "water closet" on the air. Now look where we are. I'm no prude, but there is only one thing I want to know from the entertainment industry; namely, how low is low enough for you? When will you stop trying to push the bar down? Fifty years from now will you be airing acts of bestiality during primetime? If not, tell us EXACTLY where you plan to stop.
