[history]
This may help explain why the poll of likely Missouri voters finds them almost evenly split over whether to replace Holden with his Democratic rival, state Auditor Claire McCaskill, or the chief Republican contender, Secretary of State Matt Blunt.
Contests involving Holden, McCaskill and Blunt all show voter preferences within the poll's margin of error of 3.5 percentage points in either direction for each potential contest.

Anyone that votes for Holden should by-GOD donate his brain to science because he doesn't use it!
Governor "Holdup" extorted $$ from union workers to cover his million dollar inauguration. As a "reimbursement" to union bosses, he ordered all state government employees to pay union dues/fees, even if not in a union!
He vetoed CCW. Withheld $$ from schools. He is a complete and total, bonified flaming turd!
And his brother ain't much better! He's a judge up in Springfield. Let an accused fratricidal murderer out on less bond than a horse thief! Lunacy runs in the family, apparently.

PLEASE tell me they didn't actually ask what they have on their poll results:
"If the 2004 election for Governor were held today, who would you vote for if the choice were between Bob Holden, or Roy Blunt?"
It's MATT Blunt you morons! Roy's his daddy!

Compare two roughly analogous situations:
California
Boxer 48
Jones 35
Missouri
Bond 52
Farmer 35
Obviously Missouri is more conservative and Republican -- roughly a tossup state -- than California. The fact that Boxer has a smaller lead in much friendlier territory is a positive indicator for us, considering this is probably the Democrats' #2 chance at beating an incumbent, after Alaska.

roughly analogous is right. boxer enjoys a well-undeserved poll numbers at this point. We'll see how much more the tilt to the right can do to unseat her... sort of a Recall Ripple effect may take hold again as the bind measures fail and the demRats try and raise taxes.
Also, interestingly enough, the democRats in control of the California legislature would kill for approval numbers like the ones the Republicans have in Missouri as the "in power" party.
Damn, I knew my aunt and uncle left for Missouri for a good reason in the 60s, they left a farm in Minnesota for a farm in Northwest Missouri.
Thanks for the Ping. :-]

Up here in NW Missouri the people have had it with Holden. Even the few DUMBocRATS that I know despise the guy.

Who said Jones will be the primary winner and end up running against boxer ;-? I did, actually, just not on this thread :)
But Jones is a former statewide elected official, Farmer a current, so the name rec is roughly equivalent.

I'm not even sure Kaloogian could beat Boxer, much less Jones.
I'm pessimistic because I think Ahnold's Job Approval will tank because he's going to try and pass a DLs for Illegals bill - and therefore make California again unfriendly to all Republicans.

Good point on the approval ratings, not that I care for polls as a way to govern or choose candidates much anyway but they do indicate which way the stampede is headed.
Ya never know with boxer, she may be at the edge.
I hope we can push her over that edge but it won't be easy as long as the masses are uninformed and the media continues to do all it can to keep it that way.
