NEW YORK - CBS apologized for an unexpectedly R-rated end to its Super Bowl halftime show, when singer Justin Timberlake (news) tore off part of Janet Jackson (news)'s top, exposing her breast.
The two singers were performing a flirtatious duet to end the halftime show, and at the song's finish, Timberlake reached across Jackson's leather gladiator outfit and pulled off the covering to her right breast.
The network quickly cut away from the shot, and did not mention the incident on the air.
Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson's breast.
"I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl," Timberlake said in a statement. "It was not intentional and is regrettable."
Wade said CBS officials attended rehearsals of the halftime show all week, "and there was no indication any such thing would happen. The moment did not conform to CBS' broadcast standards and we would like to apologize to anyone who was offended."
The Super Bowl halftime show, which also featured P. Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock, was produced by MTV, CBS' corporate cousin in Viacom.
"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show," Joe Browne, NFL executive vice president, said. "They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show.
"It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."
MTV issued a contrite statement, saying the incident was "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional."

"Yes, for sure. They have hired Larry Flint to do next years show. "
Are you sure, I heard they were going to show Micheal Jackson's Baby Sitting Movies.

"I think the NFL forgot who their main demographic is...it certainly isn't the MTV crowd."
Exactly!!! I realize that the 18-25 male is watching this, but they are probably the smallest demographic that is. I am just amazed at who they are appealing to! The "artists" are the worst! It seems as if the only ones they can get to perform are the ones whose careers are already in the toilet!
I will no longer allow that show on in my home. The TV goes off at half time from now on!

Disgusting as it might sound, the breat ornament has been explained as a piercing ring. With piercings like that, the jewelry remains in place at all times or heals shut, I assume. Still it was planned.

I was expecting them to roll out a gold calf during that pile of garbage.
In fact, we may already have a gold calf. The TV? Sports? MTV?
People are more interested in their crappy entertainment and sports than they are their God. That will catch up with us for sure.

I've been searching these postings on the Janet Janet breast exposure and I'm surprise no one is ticked off at the NFL. They have sunk to an incredible new low. The NFL is not much better than the NBA. Just a bunch of ghetto trash polluting our young kids' minds.
And the adults don't seem to care because they want to watch their football.

"As another Freeper wrote...if this was unplanned why didn't Janet Jackson IMMEDIATELY cover herself??"
More than that, why didn't Justin look surprised that he was holding part of her outfit in his hand after he pulled it off?
And to top it off (pardon the pun), why is Janet Jackson wearing a pasty if she didn't expect that to happen?

Not only did CBS know about this, so did the NFL. Do you think the half time show was geared to the average NFL fan or the fans they do not have? The NFL knew any MTV promotion would have the usual MTV trash. When it was announced that there would be a shocker before the game, did the NFL inquire? This is all promotional PR for next year. What will they do next? Will the sacred family oriented NFD be able to stop them? Tune in.

MTV will not produce another Halftime show Yeah, right. CBS knew ahead of time what was planned. They'll wait a year (maybe) and bring in MTV again.

"People are more interested in their crappy entertainment and sports than they are their God." Or their government. Bread and circuses, bro', bread and circuses.
If the American people spent 1% as much time, money and effort on public affairs as it wastes on pro football, the problems in our nation would be over very quickly.

I will no longer allow that show on in my home. The TV goes off at half time from now on! That's good... but not the real answer. The real answer is next year no one watches the Super Bowl at all. That's the message they'll understand.

This is going to turn into one of those deals where the lying about it afterwards disgusts people more than the actual event.

if thie was unintentional, etc.. why isn't timberlake in jail for sexual assault? Why isn't jj filing charges? Why isn't the DA investigating - if it wasn't a spur of the moment thing?
I mean this poor girl was brutally assaulted, her clothing torn, exposed to the world by this beast...?
if it wasn't scripted, that is.

My theory is that the media-types noted the stir caused by the Madonna/Britney Spears liplock and decided to go for broke.
Without the lesbian kiss happening, the human padiddle would never have occurred.

Let's just be thankful that the spider on her breast distracted her attention from the spider that crawled up under her skirt, or we'd really have something to talk about today.Yes, Janet would have explained it away, not as a "wardrobe malfunction", but as a "Bush Ad".

We were all disrespected by this sleazy grab for publicity by MTV and two over-the-hill, has-been performers. When my fourteen year-old son returns from watching the Super Bowl at a church function with his girlfriend, and the first thing our of his mouth is, "Did you see Justin Timberloon expose Janet Jack****'s chest?" then something is seriously wrong with family TV venues.
We need the five-second delay rule for "live" Super Bowl half-time performances, and producers with enough gumption to delete offending material.

I didn't mean that as a hit on G.W., just a hit on their lame excuse for the disgusting show!

I called the NFL this morning and left a message on their answering machine. I told them the whole Super bowl sponsorship was disgusting; including the Bud commercials. A dog biting a guys crotch and a monkey making a move on a woman is not acceptable either!
I wish more people would call and complain.
To: Pharmboy
Padiddle! LOL, I thought that was a Midwest thing. Haven't heard it in years. I'm hysterical here.
