http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040201/nysu032_1.html ^

Posted on 02/02/2004 4:06:31 AM PST by Bush Cheney

HOUSTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The tearing of Janet Jackson's costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance.

MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

Aren't we all just a little sad that the pasty itself didn't say "Dean for America" or "Pepsi" or something? "Got Milk" would have been appropriate.

Halftime show?

I thought it was an ad for Frederick's of Hollywood.

Actually my comments were, "Why are they dancing like ancient Egyptians and dressed like they are performers in an after hours German cabaret/brothel?"

That's "Miss Jackson" if you're nasty.

I guess that means Metrosexual Justin can call her "Miss Jackson."

Timberlake yanking at Janet Jackson's breast was intentional, and ripping at her clothes was intentional. It looked like a simulated act of violence to me, a prelude to rape, and this outrage isn't even being discussed.

I agree...simply barbaric.

1) During the first rap song (was it "Diddy P"?), it seemed like every time the cameras went to a full-body shot, the guy would grab his crotch, and immediately the camera would switch back to his face. I think the producers were actually trying to avoid those moments, but the guy must have done the zipper-grab 20 times during his two-minute "song." So to give them credit, the producers had an impossible task.

Sounds more like cat and mouse. If they really wanted to uphold thier "standards", they'd stop going back to the full shot after the second or third time (or would just show the band and crowd after the first - following a pre-show warning.)

Also, her reaction looked genuine - like something went wrong. And I know she's a tramp, and I think she's fully capable of a stunt like this. But, even to my jaded eye, her reaction looked genuine.

She's an actress. Maybe not a great one, but good enough to pretend to be "surprised" which is not exactly one of the more subtle emotions.

LOL!! You just reminded me of when Elvis performed on Ed Sullivan's show and the cameras were instructed to just shoot ABOVE waist line. No pelvis shots for Elvis THAT night! Heheheh. How times have changed.

For the record, here is how I spent the four-hour period during which millions were receiving their MtvETHADONE:

1. Detail stripped and performed action and trigger job on my wife's carry pistol, improving its reliability and my skills.

2. Read a few chapters in "Human Achievement" by Charles Murray (The Bell Curve author), improving my mind.

3. Visited our rental home to plan improvements before re-renting, improving our financial security. (Consider the image of the prosperous landlords with clipboards and tape measures, while the perpetual tenants sit in their daze being fed entertainment.)

Remind me again about the importance of "sports" (as opposed to personal athletic activity) in our society?

Yes....and Janet just happened to be wearing a nipple shield...just in the rare event her "removable" right breast cover was torn off and exposed to millions of households, young and old. Give me a break, I don't buy that for a minute.

The fiasco was obviously scripted, and by this statement, MTV is just showing it's true colors by not having the ...guts to own up to it. Does that really surprise anyone?????

MTV is lying. They wanted to push filth on us.

Next year, when it's the cheerleaders stripping, do we have to skip football altogether so liberals can flaunt their values on national TV?

There's soft porn on cable 24 hours a day. Isn't that enough?

Why's it important for liberals to push porn during football games?

Don't liberals have cable? Can't they watch liberal sleaze anytime they want?

MTV's still on round the clock. Right? What am I missing here?

I'm not saying liberals can't watch what they want - I'm saying I don't want it forced down my throat. Is that too much?

Would MTV approve of conservatives breaking into their soft porn TV shows with messages about family morality? If not, why not? Or, are there two standards? One for liberals who want to push gutter values, one for conservatives when we want to push ours?

I "get" the turn the channel thing. Would a liberal accept the same? Would liberals be happily willing to turn the channel every time a conservative wanted to force our views on their channels?

Nothing like posting a little bit of sneering, holier-than-thou self-superiority over the common herd to really bring people around to your point of view. Are you sure you didn't develop an AIDS cure and solve the Middle East crisis during the third quarter as well?

I really despise that campaign. Just seems to cater to lowlives. I don't know for sure, but I think it has influenced my buying habits since I have been diverting to Burger King or Steak and Shake instead if we want fast food burgers and such.
