MTV Touted Jackson 'Shocker' Before Topless Super Bowl Dance

CBS is claiming it had no idea that a Super Bowl half-time dance routine between Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake would feature the pop diva going partially topless.

But four days before Ms. Jackson assaulted tens of millions TV viewers during the family hour with her R-rated moment, a press release by the company producing the show boasted that her dance would be "shocking."

"I don't think the Super Bowl has ever seen a performance like this," Jackson choreographer Gil Duldulao said, in a press release posted to MTV's web site on Jan. 28.

"The dancing is great. She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too."

CBS and NFL switchboards were flooded with complaints as millions of families gathered to watch what was supposed to be a wholesome family-oriented TV sports event.

But instead, a song laced with Timberlake's allusions to getting Jackson naked ended with him ripping off part of her top, exposing Jackson's tassled breast.

A statement issued by the NFL said it was unlikely that MTV would ever be allowed to produce another Super Bowl half-time show.

But despite the music network's boast that the "shocking" routine would show Jackson as "more of a woman as she dances around," CBS is calling her nudity "unexpected."

...So lets all write to the FCC and the folks who are holding their leash in the White House and demand that they throw the book at CBS for this.

We, of alll people, are going to call for federal censorship of a TV network because Janet Jackson flashed a boob on a halftime show? I thought running to Nanny every time their widdle feelings are hurt was something liberals did.

It was a boob. So what?

yeah, no big deal. Men grabbing women on live network TV and ripping off their tops and exposing their breasts. Happens on the all the time. Who cares?

It looks to me from the picture posted at Drudge's website that the piece covering her breast was held on by snaps. It certainly wasn't sewn on. Why would you fasten a piece like that on with snaps if you didn’t intend to remove it?

The costume was made specifically for her so it's not like it required a lot of special fitting and changes depending on which woman wore it.

it was planned of course ... there's no reason for Timberlake to reach over there unless it was for that ... they wanted to "shock" and they got it ... they just didn't get the reaction they thought they would ... looks like MTV won't be in charge of entertaining another Super Bowl crowd ...

"JC's dad" as you put it also gave humans the ability to make clothes, which are used to cover the human form.

Janet is about par with the farting horse.

And about as sexy as a sack full of soiled underwear.

I just saw this on the news. (didn’t watch the game because I don’t care about that stuff) That was so intentional, it wasn’t an accident and it was completely rehearsed.

OMG-I was at the puter, but dh told me all about it. It was no accident (as far as he was concerned). Guess we've done something right, cuz my step-son averted his eyes and left the room. Told dh that we should boycott the superbowl unless CBS, NFL & FCC are held accountable for this outrage.

"For cryin' out loud, if he'd yanked any harder on her costume, she'd have gone flyin' off the friggin' stage!"

LOL! I have to agree. No accident.

Gee I wonder if there was a morals clause in the contract with the Superbowl, CBS and MTV? If there was maybe there is a big penalty if they cross the line.

Women don't usually wear pasties just in case just in case somebody yanks their top off. Your statement was true until tonight. Unfortunately, this is probably going to become another ugly and stupid fashion trend. Remember madonna's cone bras. I must say though, I never wore one and never liked madonna.

I imagine that CBS probably thought it would get talked about and it did ... controversy does that ... but the SuperBowl already has high viewership so they didn't do themselves any favors ... I used to have cable, then went back to basic cable ... now I just have non-cable TV ...

There's no question it was planned. The lyric he's singing is "gonna have ya' naked by the end of this song".

This was Timberlake's "revenge" for the Brittney/Madonna kiss. Just the latest in their manufactured little war. This is what pop stars do today, in lieu of making music.

"She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around."

Translation: She looks every bit her 37 years, and then some. Hell, and then a LOT. She looks 50.

Well, as I wrote the FCC
"since you exist and taxpayers pay for you, why don't you do your job and heavily fine" all involved. I don't approve of them, but since we are presently stuck with them (at our expense) they should serve some purpose.
