BUSH AND BLAIR PAIR UP FOR PEACE PRIZE

Tony Blair and George Bush have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for waging war on Saddam Hussein.

They have been put forward by a Norwegian politician who said ousting the dictator had reduced the threat of a war with weapons of mass destruction.

It also laid the foundation for the development of democracy in Iraq, he said.

The five-member Norwegian awards committee will announce the winner on December 10.

The move has been condemned by anti-war campaigners. Andrew Burgin of the Stop the War Coalition said: "This is completely unbelievable. It shows the stupidity of this peace prize that it is given to people for starting wars rather than stopping them."

The nominees are also believed to include Pope John Paul II and the European Union itself.

Nominations closed earlier. Although the list is secret those making the nominations often announce who they have put forward.

Mr Blair and Mr Bush have been nominated several years in a row, this time by Jan Simonsen of the right-wing Party of Progress.

Last year's winner was the Iranian lawyer and human rights activist Shirin Ebadi.

what irony if Bush and Blair win.

Don't count on it. Anyone can submit a nomination...and a Conservative has a very small chance winning anything from liberal Europe.

It would be cool though... Clinton would turn red as a beet and pop a few blood vessels.

Well, who else is running that they can give it to?

You'll love this - there's a campaign to renominate Illinois' own leading disgrace, ex-Gov. Ryan, for his blanket reprieve for all death-row inmates as he left office.

Aside from the important fact that President Bush has done more for world peace than ANYone since Ronald Reagan, exactly why is the committee even considering Bush and Blair for the prize? The Nobel committee is so corrupt and politicized, and without a shred of decency or common sense (witness brainless Jimmy Carter and murderous Arafat getting the peace prize). What do you think?

Ya know, I believe you're correct. I didn't pay much attention to it.
