While there are cheerleaders at NFL games, they are hardly the centerpiece or even a fraction of the broadcast. You typically only see them at the TV breaks and the advertisers logo are usually on the screen, so you can see them anyway.

Whereas JJ and Timberlake were prancing around for hours and hours?

I would reply to this post, but FReepers have been warned not to be "outraged" over the incident.

The other issues that you noted --drugs, gambling, partisanship-- no child would see that. That isn't something that you can see during the broadcast; and if it is, it is very subtle.

So. Lets take a poll. How many 10 year-olds in america do you think are unaware of these problems with professional sports? About the same number as still believe santa slides down a chimney with toys? This is a sufficiently tepid defense that I suspect you are not altogether taken with it.

Now there's a pursuasive tact.

How about presenting a cogent arguement, rather than being "outraged"?

Well, you are assuming that Dr. Spock knows how to best raise my child.

Bottom line is that they are my kids, they are my responsibility. That's what this controversy is about.

It isn't about what Dr. Spock or donh would approve of or not approve of.

The "hue and cry" is from normal people that have kids that are ticked off about nipples during family viewing hours. They have the right to free speech and they are voicing their opinion.

That you disagree with them about their outrage and/or their perceptional differences between a football game and an exposed nipple is absolutely irrelevant.

Don't you feel it is a little elitist on your part to presume to tell other people what they should or should say? Even after you have made your opinion know to them (which is your right to free speech) and they say, sorry I don't agree with you...isn't it arrogant to say that haven't debated you properly? Citing Dr. Spock, as if he is the only person that ever wrote a book on raising children, is supposed to be your intellectual sledge hammer to convince someone that you understand raising kids better than they do?

Come on, don. You raise your kid(s), I'll raise my kids. You don't watch football on TV, I will. Who knows? Maybe our kids will meet someday and iron out the differences.

Interesting discussion.

Actually, one can be both cogent and outraged at the same time.

Feel free to chew over my posts on the subject.

this forum isn't about the fully nude streaker

Since you've been here all of 14 minutes, how would you know?

let j be j accident or not

She is pure, unadulterated trash. Always has been, always will be; just like the rest of her family.

What on earth you'd want to be like her is beyond anybody here, I can assure you of that.

disagree Janet wasn't always trash. BTW, anyone know why Timberlake who ripped off her top isn't being discussed that much?

I was always a big admirer of Janet Jackson -- she's beautiful -- and I thought classy, but now that she felt the need at 37 to have an androgynous, 20+, scruffy twig rip her bra off in front of the world in order to promote new release I have to say that I've lost a lot of respect for her.

Get Over it and Shutup already

You are talking about a post that is two days old.

about your Kids at church watching the game blah blah blah.

I didn't say a word about 'my kids' at church watching the game.

Its pretty sad that they would Cancel church for the Super Bowl in the first place

They didn't.

and I am sure its not the first time your kids have seen a BOOBIE!

I don't have any kids (nor have I claimed to have any), and second of all, they wouldn't have seen it, because we didn't show the halftime. I didn't see it, and am glad I didn't. You seem to think we should have as a church family viewed such filth.

Also absurd about your comments is that if children have happened to have seen obscene things before, it's perfectly all right for them to see more of it and as much as possible. Ridiculous logic.

I bet you dont monitor what they watch on T.V. or the Games they play on their Playstation or Xbox or the Movies they see at the Mall.

No, because they don't exist. But when they do, I certainly will, and your apparent attack that I wouldn't care about my children's moral upbringing is baseless and only meant to be an apparent insult.

If you are going to go to Church, do it for the Right reasons, not to watch the Super bowl!! Enough said.

A very bizarre and strange statement for you to make, I must say, for a number of reasons. You seem to automatically assume that if you go and spend time with your church family at another gathering that means you don't attend the other normal church functions. Very odd. Another thing that seems to be lost on you is the whole concept of fellowship with the church family. Functions such as these also serve as outreach to the unchurched and can make them more comfortable with those in the Church family and will come to the other services. Finally your moral lecture to me about going to church for the "right reasons" after your diatribe in favor of obscenity and decrying those who seek a moral upbringing of their children is about as self-contradictory as you can get.

Thank you for your service. My nephew is there, too. I served in the late 60's early 70's.

What about the family who's children were watching? It's not up to you or me or Janet Jackson that the "body is beautiful". That would be the decision of the parent. For lots of people if they wanted to see a strip show they'd sit their kids down in front of HBO and let them watch "Real Sex&quote.

I didn't initiate a conversation between us, and I have no intention of going through this entire thread trying to figure out which post of yours you might have thought was relevant to anything I have said. If you wish to have a conversation with me, kindly do so. I am not a caged monkey for you to poke with a stick whenever it amuses you.
