Kentucky's ranking as the No.1 state for toothlessness among people 65 and older is no laughing matter.
Health experts say the ranking reflects two serious issues: a "silent epidemic" of dental problems in Kentucky that points to an equally worrisome state of overall public health.

Excuse me, but the primary reason most people don't see a dentist is because it's too damn expensive. Two months pay for a crown? Forget it.

No offense meant to ANYONE, but I had to laugh when I read that West Virgina was edged out.
I mean all, those West Virgina 'teeth jokes' are now obsolete. However on the plus side, we'll have tons of NEW Kentucky jokes!

I'm not disputing the report but these reports deal with what something might be ideally. If people want to spend a silly fortune on filling cavities, root canals, crowns and etc.that's their perogative. If your teeth are gone then so are your unnecessary expenses, pain and worries of vanity.Get rid of them and get some falsies. All you going to do is use them to eat.

Well, I guess that proves that the toothbrush was invented in Kaintuckee. If it were invented anywhere else, it would have been called a teethbrush.

LOL!! Hey, the vet wants me to have my 13 year-old Pomeranian's teeth cleaned professionally ... blood work, anesthesia, the whole ball of wax ... for between $200 and $300. I told him that I don't even go to the dentist for my own since the cost is so outrageous.

I don't know whether you are kidding or not, but listen to your vet. Lack of care of a dog's teeth and gums contribute significantly to heart and other organ problems later on down the road.
