On the basis of what authority should federally appointed judges be outlawing abortions?

I notice Bush's stand 'Strongly Oppose' extended unemployment benefits...

but they've done it several times and will soon do it again.

I also notice Bush's Strongly Oppose increase federal funding of higher education... something I doubt... Bush hasn't opposed any spending increases I can see... =o)

I also notice a lot of the hot-button issues aren't even asked.

Roll Back Cuts for People Making Over $100,000

JFK doesn't stand for John F. Kerry.

It stands for JANE FONDA KERRY.

My opinions line up with Bush on all of the items here. But what about the other things? UN, environmentalist crap, and so on. I'm hoping HOPING that once he's in his 2nd term and doesn't have to worry about reelection, he'll shut off the valve to the spending pipe.

There's more to Bush's shafting of his support base than a stupid chart that has headings but no definitions. For example "strongly opposes" or "strongly favors" the Patriot Act. We need to know why (I do.)

Good comparison.

BUT -- why is the War on Terror not even mentioned?

In the Homeland security area they only have the Patriot Act and immigration, NOTHING about Bush being firm and determined to fight terrorism, and Kerry thinks terrorism is not really a serious threat.

All other issue and their stands on those issues pale in comparison to this one.

I have to correct a little of this source. Kerry is even worse. I also posted some of his easiest to find lowlights on bills he cosponsored or sponsored. That's not counting his voting record.

Safety Devices on All New Guns
Actually Kerry wants to ban all so called unsafe guns. The Small Print is from 1997-1998 congress - Bill S2185

Background Checks on Gun Show Purchases

We have that now, but Kerry goes way beyond that by banning gun shows through red tape, through registering all vendors and banning private sales. (1999-2000 - S443)

Require Safety Course, License Before Gun Purchase

Somewhat favor for Kerry? Considering that he pushed for a $10 license fee for ammo dealers, putting ammo under the same rules as firearms, bans all 'armor piercing' ammo that isn't designed for what the Sec of Treasury calls "Sporting purposes", I have no doubt where he really stands.

Allow Lawsuits Against Gun Manufacturers Somewhat Favor

He;s fillibustering....

The Patriot Act Strongly Opposes

He voted for that freedom grab, and now he 'opposes it'??? BS. He had his stance to take a lead on it and he failed immensely as he is a failure of a senator.

The War in Iraq Somewhat Opposes

Didn't he vote for that as well?

Embargo on Cuba Somewhat Favor
Considering he backed PNTR for China, backed the Sandinistas, and also opposed any aid for Afghanastan when they were helping the Soviets, I have to doubt this too. He's likely just staying quiet about it so he doesn't make the Cubans mad like Klinton did.

U.S. Involvement in NAFTA Strongly Favor
And MFN for China too, and I'm making sure this gets out to the union membership since I doubt the union leaders will do so.

Mandatory Labor/Environment Standards in Trade Agreements Somewhat Favor
Bwahahahahha. His past record says otherwise. At least Bush is honest about the trade stances, even if I disagree with them.

Additional Tax Cuts for Businesses Strongly Opposes
Who Hoo! More jobs going overseas. Thanks Johnny.

Also Back in 85-86, he backed increasing superfund by rasing excise taxes.(S Amendment 577)

He also pushed to raise tobacco taxes, and voted for Klinton's 1993 tax.

Tougher Fuel Efficiency Standards Strongly Favor
At the cost of more jobs. -------------

That said, John Kerry is so bad, if he wins, I'll be wishing for the days of Bill Klinton. He's IMO the worst of all the dems running.

* Jorge Cabrera. : Cabrera is a convicted drug runner with connections to the Castro regime. Also known but not made public is that Cabrera was cooperating in 1995 with Castro’s DGI (Direccion General de Inteligencia or the General Directorate of Intelligence). The DGI was formed along the lines of the KGB and was once under the control of KGB General Viktor Simenov. Despite the collapse of the Soviet Union the DGI maintains close links with Russian and Chinese intelligence services. - "The Democrats’ drug running links," by Gerard Jackson , The New Australian News with Commentary, Friday 1 June 2001

* Senator John Kerry: Massachussetts senator. Accepted campaign funds from Vivian Mannerud, a Democratic campaign donor linked to cocaine trafficker Jorge Cabrera. Even when other Democrats returned such donations, he opted to keep them. Mannerud hosted an $18,000 Kerry fund-raiser, gave $1,000 in donations and arranged foreign travel for Kerry's staff as recently as April 2000. Though Kerry's advisors warned him that Mannerud's drug connection could prove troublesome, Kerry wasn't swayed. "We accept her word she had no knowledge of Mr. Cabrera's illicit activities," the Herald quoted Kerry spokesman David Wade as saying.- Boston Herald

* Jerome Berlin, a lawyer who was indicted in 1990, and later acquitted, of federal conspiracy charges of bribing public officials. He hosted a fund-raising dinner on December 3, 1995? in Coral Gables, FL at his home, which was also attended by Ms. Mannerud, Marvin S. Rosen and Cabrera..

* Marvin S. Rosen, finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Attended a fund-raising dinner on December 3, 1995? in Coral Gables, FL at Jerome Berlin's home, which was also attneded by Ms. Mannerud, Jerome Berlin, and Cabrera...

1983 : (CABRERA PLEADS GUILTY OF OBSTUCTION FOR CONSPIRING TO BRIBE A WITNESS) In 1983, he [Cabrera] pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice for conspiring to bribe a grand jury witness and served 42 months in prison. In 1988, he [Cabrera] pleaded guilty to filing a false income-tax return and served one year in prison.

NOVEMBER 1995 : (CABRERA WRITES CHACK TO DEMOCRATS) On his return to the US several days after that meeting [with Democrat fundraiser Vivian Mannerud in Havana's Copacabana Hotel] , in November 1995, Cabrera wrote a check for $20,000 to the DNC from an account that included the proceeds from smuggling cocaine from Colombia to the US, said the investigators, who spoke on condition of anonymity. - "Drug Smuggler Made Clinton Donation in Cuba, Investigators Say, " By DON VAN NATTA Jr., New York Times, April 4, 1997 MIAMI

1995 : (CABRERA MEETS GORE) Within two weeks of the contribution, Cabrera met Gore at the dinner in Miami. At the event, Gore posed for photographs with Cabrera, who has two felony convictions dating from the 1980s and is now in a prison here on a drug-smuggling conviction.- "Drug Smuggler Made Clinton Donation in Cuba, Investigators Say, " By DON VAN NATTA Jr., New York Times, April 4, 1997 MIAMI

DECEMBER 1995 : (CABRERA ATTENDS WHITE HOUSE RECEPTION HOSTED BY HILLARY CLINTON) Ten days later, Cabrera attended a Christmas reception at the White House hosted by Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mrs. Clinton posed for photographs with Cabrera, who has two felony convictions dating from the 1980s and is now in a prison here on a drug-smuggling conviction. - "Drug Smuggler Made Clinton Donation in Cuba, Investigators Say, " By DON VAN NATTA Jr., New York Times, April 4, 1997 MIAMI

JANUARY 1996 : (CABRERA ARRESTED) In early January 1996, three weeks after having attended the Christmas reception at the White House, Cabrera was arrested and charged with importing 6,000 pounds of cocaine into the US on boats through the Florida Keys.

1996 late : (CABRERA PLEADS GUILTY) Late last year, he [Cabrera] pleaded guilty to those charges and was sentenced to 19 years in federal prison and fined $1.5 million. The new details about the location for the solicitation of Cabrera's contribution and the source of the money have come to light in congressional investigators' interviews here with Cabrera. The investigators, who are looking into possible abuses of campaign fund-raising, are trying to determine whether Cabrera "laundered" drug money when making his $20,000 "soft money" contribution to the campaign.

Doesn't serving in the national guard count as military service even a little bit? And considering where our national guard is right this minute, that part of the poll seems insulting.
