After sideswiping the mailboxes, Trebek's truck became airborne for about 40 feet (12 meters), sailing over an embankment and landing in the ditch, Koolman said.

This looks like it could have been Final Jeopardy!.

Whoa, what a bitch of a way to wake up!

Once, while driving from SE Mass. to Montreal way too early in the morning, I got on Rte 128 and fell asleep, so instead of taking the Rte 93 exit, I drove asleep all the way till Rte. 128 ended at Gloucester and woke up on a rural bridge. Talk about scary.

"fell asleep" is the polite way of saying he was drunk

truck became airborne for about 40 feet (12 meters), sailing over an embankment and landing in the ditch..

been there, done that,, as a passenger.. New Year's Eve 1972.. we were lucky , end for end about 3 times with a 1 and 1/2 twist for effect,, no scrapes, no injuries, the truck was junk,, but we lived to drink another day. folks warned me the guy driving was nuts, I think he teaches school now.. and I was nuts enough to accept a ride home that night. the snow in the ditch saved us more than likely.

Alex,, you're a very lucky man.

I have a hard time picturing Alex Trebek driving a pick-up truck (with the way he preteniously corrects contestants in their pronounciation of foreign words and what not). Glad he wasn't hurt.

Alex, I'll take "Comatose Canadians" for $600.

(I like Trebeck...don't know if he's still a Canadian national...)

The stupidest thing I ever did was driving one day after staying up overnight packing for my trip home from college... fell asleep on Interstate 40 eastbound near Clarksville, Arkansas, suddenly woke up to find myself drifting onto the left shoulder, way overcorrected and spun a high-speed 180 to end up facing backward (and stalled) in the right-hand lane. Sheer luck I didn't kill myself or anyone else.
