Cooper succeeded in having DNA tests conducted on evidence at the scene, but the tests indicated he was the killer. Another candidate for the Darwin award? but then he knew he did it in advance and was only buying time ... enough waste of tax payers money. Time to start making the death penalty pay - as the deterrent it is supposed to be. Why do we let appeals go on for 20 years and defeat that purpose! sheesh

Greyout Davis would have granted clemency and tried to comute the sentence.

Good for Arnold who, I must admit, is looking better and better to this severe critic of him during the campaign. Much better than I then imagined. He also gets credit for endorsing Bill Jones for the Senate seat of Boxer. He has earned it.

Get the facts. Greyout was actually "tough on crime." He always thought he would be a presidential candidate and didn't want to get Dukakised. I think he even opposed parole for every murder that came before him.
To: OneTimeLurker
Greyout was a liberal puke who ran California into the red, wiped out the electrical industry in California and tried to make a bridge to the 19th century.

I know but that wasn't your point in the original post did I challenge what you just said in my response.

"Maintaining his innocence during 18 years of appeals, Cooper succeeded in having DNA tests conducted on evidence at the scene, but the tests indicated he was the killer."
Way past time for this one to move on. . .
Wonder if there will be candle-light vigils, et al and a loud drumbeat for Arnold's actions. . .

The usual Hollywood lamebrains are protesting this idiot's pending execution. Arnold ignored them.
Yeah, Arnold!

Greyout would do anything to garner more votes.
That's pretty much the problem and why he was removed.
Tough on murder?
Yeah, right.
He was a say anything and be anything politician.
And since THAT is true, it puts everything he's ever said in a different light.

Cooper, now 46, had escaped from prison This is why we need the death penalty. For every innocent man put to death, if any, there are a thousand stories like this.

No California governor has granted clemency to a condemned murderer since Ronald Reagan (search) in 1967 spared the life of a severely brain-damaged killer. Showing once again the Gipper was a humanitarian and exactly the epitome of the good steward. We miss you Ronnie!

When was the last execution in California?

Ever since Davis left CA there has been a welcome silence of Bush criticism coming from the left coast.
