[history]
WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer had $5 million cash-on-hand for her re-election campaign at the end of 2003, her campaign reported Friday - nearly 10 times as much as any of the Republicans trying to replace her.
Former California Secretary of State Bill Jones reported $514,000 cash-on-hand as of Dec. 31, most of it money he loaned himself. Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin reported $272,706, former Los Altos Hills Mayor Toni Casey $354,030, and former Assemblyman Howard Kaloogian $10,534.

Lordy how I hate Boxer, Lee and Feinstein's thinking and actions. I am in the minority in my district and will vote against them all - no matter who is running.

That's about the only thing Boxer's ahead of anyone in. The good sense and morals rationed out to her were left on the cutting room floor.

Marin reported contributions of $782,755 as of Dec. 31, all of them received during the last quarter of the year. This worries me.
Marin's financial strength, plus the likely defacto backing of the Republican's state power structure plus her sponsorship by Rove could lead to real trouble for conservatives if Marin sneaks by in the primary.
In November we'd be faced with choosing between the national champion for liberalism and one of the movers and shakers in the fight to introduce Mexican nationals to the full privileges of a California citizen.

That scenario being the case, it kind of makes ya wonder why one votes anymore. (/cynic) .. but may explain why a lot of folks don't anymore or won't in November.

"It's exciting," Boxer said."If we couldn't beat her with Herschenson in the early 90's when Republicanism actually meant something to righteous conservatives, I don't know how we're going to beat her with 3 out of 4 challengers that are RINO's!!!
Howard needs our support. He's one of us!!! We need to buy him a good professional, then stay the hell outa the kitchen and not do to him what contributors did to Bill Simon and his consultant. Too many cooks spoil the soup!!!

$5 million? In CALIFORNIA? Bunning has about that much for his race in Kentucky, and that's about the amount you need to run a full media campaign in this state. That's pathetic, I would think, for California.

Has anyone in CA bothered to trace Catboxer's funds from fetal tissue harvesting companies? She and Murray were favorites at one time.

Howard is the only one who does not owe money at this point. Worthy of noting, imo. And screw the polls.
I'll admit he han't been rolling in the doug either, but ... no, more than ever President Bush needs someone like Howard elected to serve in the US Senate. Others may appear to be moderately worthy of consideration, but the time has come, as you say, to stop the internal party squabbling.

"...but the time has come, as you say, to stop the internal party squabbling."Hey! I stopped squabling after they screwed up the Bill Simon Campaign and simply re-registered "Decline to State!"
I then come here to FR in our conservative family and all of a sudden some danged "Posse" comes on flaming with some stupid "self-fulfilling prophecy" that a righteous conservative "cannot win in CA!" That supporting my favorite conservative is somehow blastphemy and a preverted vote for that Mecha/Commonist bastard Lt. Governor!
I've never been so insulted in my life!!! No, I will NOT forgive and I certainly will NOT forget!!! I don't get pist easily, but as Jack Kennedy once said: "Love your enemies, but never forget their names!"
To me, success is the best revenge!!! (In due time, I will have it, just like NormsRevenge)

We aren't going to beat her. It's pretty apparent by looking at the finances that the GOP at the national level has conceded the race.

A flat beer?
I thought all beer was bottled?
I think the Waspman is primed to lay one of his famous rants on a thread here abouts!!
Thinking about 6 more years of Boxer as a Senator would stir up powerful juices!!!
I must check on the Mars Rover happenings, might need to take a nap right quick.
Will check back later if I do.
