Arlen Specter is now going around telling how he is trying to simplify the federal income tax.

That hypocrite hasn't mentioned his postcard-sized plan since he ran for president in 1996

He is now bragging about the goodies he is getting for Pennsylvania. Having a pig at the pork barrel is not my idea of good government.

If Specter, who is now in life's late innings suddenly succumbed to old age, you could safely bet the farm that Fat Eddie would appoint someone even more objectionable,

Vote for Pat Toomey.

Former Vice President Al Gore's speech on global warming is getting a lot of laughs. He made his speech to a crowd at New York's Beacon Theater on Jan. 15, the coldest day in the city in decades.

***

God had to be watching and laughing as three young pranksters streaked naked through a Denny's restaurant in Spokane, Wash.

The Associated Press reported that to make a fast getaway, the buffoons left their car running in the parking lot. This was their downfall. A mean old character eating inside the restaurant saw the running vehicle and stole it, along with the streakers' clothes.

This left the three men huddling in an adjacent parking lot -- naked in 20-degree weather. They must've heard and believed Gore's global warming speech.

***

I see that after his stunning victory in Iowa where Sen. John F. Kerry is calling himself the "Comeback Kid." Actually "Ketchup Kid" would be more appropriate.

The question we are asking: Is Mrs. Heinz thinking about 57 ways to leave her lover?

... and feeling rather small.

I will never understand where Specter is getting the energy to run this race, considering his age and medical history. It's all about POWER.

I think that would be okay if you registered from a cemetery. I know that works in Philly.

From a Reader:
Dear Editor:
I had a conversation this morning( Jan.16) with Mr. William W. Lawrence regarding his column in the Jan. 14 issue of the Media Press where he said 'For those who attend public school, Job is in the Old Testament'. It seemed obvious to me his implication was that public school students have no knowledge of the Bible and when I asked him if this is what he meant by that sentence, he did not deny it. When I questioned him further, he said if I felt that strongly about it I should write a letter with my opinion and he would promise that the Press would print it.
Well, Mr. Lawrence, here is my letter and here is my opinion:
I feel your statement is a slap in the face of every clergyperson, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and Bible study teacher who spend countless hours educating students in the teachings of the Bible, not to mention parents who make sure that Bible education is a part of their children's upbringing.
I'm sure you will recall, Mr. Lawrence, that after you have me a rundown on your accomplishments [personal and professional], you told me we should all listen to your opinions because you had written and published more words than William Shakespeare. I believe Shakespeare's words are his legacy Mr. Lawrence, and I think your words will be your legacy also. It will be one of meanspiritedness, arrogance and sarcasm. How sad.
Sincerely, Edie Wittko
Media
P.S. Don't forget your promise to print my letter, Mr. Lawrence. We're all waiting to see if you're a man of your word.

Ever notice that it's the ones who always accuse others of "meanspiritedness" that are the most meanspirited?
