INS China Policy Opens Borders to Asylum Scams
Fox News ^ | Wednesday, February 04, 2004 | Matt Hayes
Posted on 02/04/2004 9:10:04 PM CST by yonif
Immigration judges will tell you that there is a striking resemblance among the asylum cases filed by Chinese nationals. Since 1989, when Congress passed a bill that directed the INS to give "careful consideration" to asylum applicants who expressed a fear of persecution related to Chinas "one child" policy (search), Chinese family planning cases have been flooding the governments inboxes like spam.

U.S. tries to halt surge in Dominican migrants
AP ^ | February 7, 2004 | Paisley Dodds
Posted on 02/07/2004 3:10:12 AM CST by sarcasm
ABOARD THE U.S. COAST GUARD CUTTER KEY BISCAYNE Authorities last month caught more Dominican boat people than they did in all of last year, signaling growing desperation in a nation struggling through its worst economic crisis in decades.
The surge has prompted the United States to deploy more ships and aircraft in the Caribbean, where short-staffed agencies are expected to do search-and-rescue missions, hunt for drug traffickers, protect fisheries and guard against terrorist threats to cruise ships and oil refineries.
"We're seeing something like we've never seen before," Coast Guard Lt. John Morkan, 35, said yesterday aboard the cutter Key Biscayne as it sliced through whitecapped swells between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. "The means of migrant smuggling have stayed the same, but we're seeing a lot more from the Dominican Republic," he said.

Lawmakers debate Mexican ID cards
The Spokane Spokesman Review ^ | February 6, 2004 | Richard Roesler
Posted on 02/07/2004 12:03:25 AM CST by eeman
OLYMPIA _ Tomas Villanueva got up at 3a.m. Thursday, made coffee, pulled on two flannel shirts, and drove his old van from the Yakima Valley to the state Capitol.
He hoped to win over state lawmakers on a matter important to him.
The lawmakers were busy. Villanueva was granted less than two minutes to make his case.
Sitting at a microphone, he asked lawmakers to allow more widespread acceptance of Mexican consular ID cards as legitimate identification.
The change wouldn't affect Mexicans' immigration status or right to work here, he said. But people need an ID, he said, to open a bank account, sign up for electrical or water service, or even get a library card.

Driver's licenses for sale? Possible security breach at DPS
12:57 PM CST on Friday, February 6, 2004
By BRETT SHIPP / WFAA-TV
Sources tell News 8 that some state workers in North Texas are compromising national security by illegally selling real driver's licenses to anyone who'll pay.
Billions of federal dollars are now being invested in post-9/11 national security, yet it's still possible to illegally obtain a real driver's license in North Texas from workers at the Department of Public Safety.
It's especially disturbing news in light of the fact that several of the terrorist hijackers of 9/11 got their driver's licenses the same way. Passenger checkpoints at airports are all but impassible without a government-issued picture ID most often a driver's license. That alone makes such licenses very valuable.

My state of Tennessee eased drivers license requirements and found a human tidal wave inundating the stations from everywhere else. Once they had a Tennessee license they returned to their "home" states and swapped them for those state's licenses that they wouldn't have been able to obtain in the first place.
This confirms the existence of a huge counterfeit document trade and a grapevine communication network that enables the parasites to take advantage of any loophole or break they can take advantage of. Getting this law repealled or modified here has been hell ("It's to insure safety!"), but we're not giving up or going away about this.
Just before Christmas two illegals thought they hit a pregnant woman with their truck (she may have fell down going into labor). When she pleaded for help one emptied his (illegally purchased) handgun into her, one round going through the unborn baby. As he did this he told the woman "Here's your help."
Their excuse: They "didn't want to get into trouble for hitting someone."
The only thing legal here was the driver's license. I consider that woman's and her baby's blood on the hands of the legislators who eased the way for these criminals.
This was an exceptionally heinous act, but insurance and injury rates are climbing steadily from illegals' accidents from which they flee or no habla insurance. So much for improving overall safety.

We need another immigration policy statement from the president.

A nation reflects the people of that nation. If you allow a wholesale repopulation of America, you change everything about America. That is not acceptable to any Conservative American. I agree wholeheartedly with this statement, and I am a conservative American who is horrified at the President's insistence on repopulating America with third worlders. His actions are not conservative.

He has done so and it appears to me to be a reasonable solution. Open borders and rewarding lawbreakers is never a reasonable solution. The solution is to take away the carrots that encourage illegal aliens to come here in the first place. Deny the welfare, food stamps, medical care, schooling, etc., and many will go home and fewer will come.

I know some bushbots know there is a problem but why are they not more open-minded and just read, actually read, the things that are printed everyday? Stats can bore people but what about all the true human horror and crime stories?

That is a great idea!!!!! Nothing annoys me more than having to find the English description in advertisements mailed to me or in instruction literature and in public places. I just thought this was a southwest USA problem, but it/they are migrating everywhere in OUR country. We are all here legally or born here legally and getting sick and tired of the hijacking of our country. /rant
