Israel must find some way of keeping Islamists out of their country. The fence is only a start.

Israel should complete the exchange, get its one prisoner back safely, then launch an all-out war of extermination against Hezbollah. This should include not just the terrorist military bases in Lebanon, but their headquarters and offices throughout the Muslim world, the affiliated host agencies and, as Southack suggests in #97, the ideologues and enablers outside the Middle East.

The latter could be targeted in a revived and enlarged version of Operation Gideon, the 1970s era Mossad project that eventually tracked down and eliminated every one of the 1972 Munich Olympic terrorists.

Such an operation need not involve a great deal of bloodshed: a bomb-designing geek in Amsterdam turns up dead in a canal some morning, a shady banker falls down the stairs in Rome, a rabid neo-Streicher propagandist perishes in a car wreck near Manchester, mysterious raiders hit a terrorist-affiliated drug-lab in the hinterland of Paraguay and burn it to the ground, a private jet from Saudi Arabia disappears over the Indian Ocean, taking a prince of the realm with it.

None other than arch-liberal Bob Simon of CBS News advocates a variation of this for the US war on terror. He cites an often overlooked advantage of the Gideon style operation: nobody even claims that it is legal, and it does not therefore require changes in the law that might be abused later.

Palestinian Terrorists Kill Ten in Jerusalem Bus Explosion

Ten people were killed, and another six are in very critical condition, after a suicide terrorist blew up on a public city bus in a central Jerusalem neighborhood this morning. Medics on the scene said that it was one of the worst sights they had ever seen; the explosives caused the floor of the bus to collapse, trapping and burying victims under the bus. The explosion took place only dozens of meters from the Prime Minister's residence.

The attack - the first one that Palestinian terrorists were able to perpetrate in over five months, due to intense intelligence and security work - took place only minutes before Elchanan Tenenbaum was transferred to Israeli hands in Germany as part of the prisoner/hostage deal. Some analysts say that the Palestinians thus wished to offstage Hizbullah in the competition between them regarding which terrorist group can make Israel bleed more. Others say that the Palestinian terrorists are miffed that "only" 400 of their number are being freed in the exchange.

On Aug. 19, 2003, 21 people were murdered when a Hamas teacher and imam from Hevron blew himself up on a #2 bus on Shmuel HaNavi St. The bus was on its way back from the Western Wall.

Fifty people are reported wounded in today's attack, but the number is expected to rise as shock victims report to hospitals on their own. The explosion took place on a #19 bus on its way from Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital to the northern parts of the city, very close to the Moment Cafe where eleven people were killed on March 9, 2002 in another Palestinian terrorist suicide attack.

M.K. Orlev: Not Expelling Arafat Now is an Invitation for More Terror

Yisrael Katz, Minister of Agriculture, are both calling for the expulsion of Arafat, following the suicide bombing in Jerusalem this morning. Orlev said that “it is the duty of the Prime Minister to act upon the decision of the Security Cabinet and expel Arafat, today.”
Also, “If Arafat is not expelled as a result of the terrible terror attack in Jerusalem, it will virtually be an invitation for the next attack. It is prohibited for Israel to lose its power of deterrence, and therefore we must expel Arafat immediately.”

Yesterday Israel killed 8 terrorists in an operation in Gaza. However, most of the time this is nothing but propaganda, because it is almost probable that this terrorist set out to bomb the bus way before this IDF operation ever happened.
