Evidently you also have no idea of equipment that our troops did NOT have when they went to Iraq.

The point is not just one thing here. Each time we overlook one thing - another thing is added on...and so it goes!

The Republican party was once a "third party" and shocked the nation when it won a Presidential election and became a major party.
Clinton won because both Bush Sr. and Bob Dole were not conservative and over 2 million conservatives decided not to vote because they didn't know they had anyone to vote for.

I was responding to a specific point made. You read something into it that wasn't there.
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
Therefore, even though I am a conservative through and through, I will vote for the Democratic candidate for the first time in thirty years.
And why the hell would you do that?
Oh c'mon, you know the answer.....:-)

The president proposes. It is congress that disposes and obviously quite a few repubs write stuff like this into legislation. People should write to their congress people telling them they have to stop this rather than pick on the president about everything.
To: hobson
Yes, but notice WAS NOT the President who request the $10 million. For those on this thread screaming about the President... STOP IT! and write your congressman.

I don't have any money (not an NEA artist, illegal immigrant or pensioner) but I do hope you win... and if you do, tell the other 3 conservatives in Congress about FR!

Just sent a post to the RNC Chairman and I told him I would be withholding my typical $500 election year contribution to all GOP candidates at the local, state, and national levels this cycle... THIS INSANITY MUST STOP!!!

But, if it goes to fund patriotic art- what's wrong with that? A good use of money, so far as I'm concerned. What makes you think it's "to fund patriotic art?" There's no reason whatsoever to believe it's something like that. In fact, the odds of it being such are about a gazillion to one. It will be exactly what it already is.
And BTW, what would you say are some of Bush's bad ideas?

George: Yes, I'd like to order the PORK fried rice.
Laura: I was thinking of something PORKY myself - I'd like the Sweet & Sour PORK.
Waiter: Appetizers?
George: I'll go with a PORK egg roll.
Laura: Nothing for me, thank you.
Waiter: May I recommend a second course of PORK-related entrees? We have PORK Lo Mein, PORK Egg Foo Young, and our special today - Double PORK Chow Mein, or the PORK with Broccoli (the broccoli is actually stuffed with PORK).
George: Anything with PORK is good.
Laura: You can never get enough PORK. PORK is good for the soul.
