John Kerry: Nice Piece Of Meat
I've been waiting to tell this story for sometime. I wanted to see whether John Kerry's campaign would go anywhere or not. Since he seems to be leading the pack it's time to tell a simple, yet telling, story of Kerry that I witnessed for myself.
In 1998-1999 I was working at a small, highly-rated gourmet shop on Beacon Hill in Boston. It was at the height of the impeachment trial and Kerry had just flown back to Boston. Once he had gotten to his Beacon Hill home at 19 Louisburg Square (yes, the same one mortgaged and site of the infamous "little dig" episode where Kerry and Heinz had a fire hydrant moved around the corner to add another parking spot) he gave our store a call just as we were closing. He asked if he could sneak down real quick to get a few items and the manager agreed.
When he got down to the store he knocked and we let him in. He was wearing his brand-new looking Vietnam Vets leather jacket that always stood out as a cry for admiration (who knew he served?). As a conservative and having already met him multiple times before, I didn't see this as an appropriate time to reveal my political belief system since I felt it would be a waste of time and breath so I casually asked how he was doing. Assuming I knew of his current position as a member of the highest-profile jury since Andrew Johnson, he said "It's tough dealing with sexual fanatics."
Then Kerry moved over to the meat section and was having a conversation with the butcher on duty when one of the employees, an attractive 15 year-old hispanic girl, walked by to get to the back of the store. As she approached Kerry gave a purring hello and then as she passed, grabbed a package of beef and while staring at the 15-year-old's, er, posterior, pronounced, "Now that's a nice piece of meat."
I wanted to belt the guy right then and there. Needless to say I didn't.
Anyways, it's not a blockbuster story but illustrates that Kerry is another in a large club on the left that profess to be a "Champion of Women" just for political posturing/gain while in the background are just salivating (and maybe more) at every pretty thing that comes their way. Bill Clinton would be proud.
So if you see Kerry on the trail in a state near you, yell out "Nice piece of meat" and see what kind of reaction you get.

I don't know if it endears him to his base or not.
I suspect this story was planted by his own campaign, somehow to demonstrate a relationship to ordinary human behavior, even if a little perverted.

This would only be hearsay if used to show proof of the fact that the young lady's rear end was, indeed, a nice peice of meat.
It is not hearsay at all if it is a person relating what they heard to demonstrate that the person in question (Kerry) did indeed say those words.

Perhaps, hearsay, as you mention, but I submit a FReeper eye-witness report is much more likely to be truthful than anything Kerry is saying about himself.
To: W04Man
It is an eyewitness report, and not hearsay, as some on the list have suggested.
It is only hearsay if the person's account of the story is used as proof that the woman was indeed a nice piece of meat.

I stated earlier that I have no doubts about the truth of this story. But without corroboration, that's all it can remain - a cute anecdote here on FR about a politician's piggishness.

last time I checked the rules in the court of public opinion were considerably looser than in a court of law. In any event,
to those who say what's the big deal. A senator should not ne ogling an under age girl and referring to her as a "piece of meat." Especially a left wing pro radical women's movement senator. I have no doubt Kerry is an opportunist and hypocrite
of the highest order.

"Candidate sees "attractive" hispanic girls butt and digs it. Comments on same to another dude. OK, where's the problem?"
He purposely said it loud enough so she could hear it - she didn't look back but made it a point to stay in the back until he left. At the same time, just in case she looked back, he had a plausible alternative subject as a back-up (a package of meat).
Again just a small insight but telling especially when he was part of a jury that apparently believes that lieing under oath about sexual conduct is no big thing while voting for every sexual harrassment law down the pike.
To: brewcrew
All claims of verbal sexual harassment are based on "hearsay."

"I suspect this story was planted by his own campaign, somehow to demonstrate a relationship to ordinary human behavior, even if a little perverted."
I am a loyal freeper and not a plant. This is not a story that would derail a campaign and I can't prove what was said without the two other principles concurring but I can prove that I worked there, my time card said I was there along with the other two employees.
To: torchthemummy
Like most liberal legislation, sexual harassment law was only meant to apply to Republicans.

This would only be news if he was a Republican. I bet more stuff like this will come out about him. We saw how Schwarzenegger was raked over the coals, then watch how allegations like this will be treated as "right wing conspiriacy mudslinging dirty pool".
To: Argus
I think you nailed it right on the head.
To: torchthemummy
It's just real creepy. Real slimey. Real men don't do that -- make some little thing uncomfortable. If you want to do her, you don't do it by making sexually threatening statements in her vicinity. The butcher probably could have found himself liable for not pressing charges. He was put in a tough situation. Kerry's a jerk. I have no doubt this could have happened.

I'm confused. Is this your own story, or one you are passing along?
If it's yours than its not hearsay to you and those present, anyway.
Any news story one doesn't witness themselves is by definition hearsay.
Powerful politicians--particularly there on the religiously antinomian left, are notorious for their womanizing. Doesn't surprise me in the least.
Lest we get arrogant though, conservative Strom Thurman, as well as various other conservative politicians were not exactly angels when it came to sex. Even King David had his foibles.
