Well, I heard Kay say "we were all WRONG." I know what you mean by dead ender. What's messed up is that I am normally not trusting of any administration, but on this WMD issue, I decided I'd take the leap and trust them on this WMD issue. Looks like I guessed wrong. I am not saying the Admin lied. I am just saying it looks like they were wrong. This guy is the expert on the subject, it seems to me.

I remember a similar experience about 10 years ago. I had been listening to Rush Limbaugh for about a year or so, and Clinton was president. His economic package was just passed, and Rush promised economic calamity. It was going to be Carter but worse. So I said to myself: OK. I will watch and see what happens and see if this is truth or not. Well, suffice to say, it was not true. The economy actually did very well. And even with the dot com boom, the markets have preserved most of the gains from those years. So I decided that Rush was WRONG.

People will say but this, but that. But events are what they are. So, you live and learn.

Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

What you fail to figure into the equation, is the reality that the economy could have been much stronger without the Clinton Bill of 1993. In speech after speech Clinton was predicting deficits "as far out as the eye could see" In fact he told one audience in Houston that he had made a big mistake in raising taxes. There were a lot of factors involved in the economy of the 90's, and this thread is not the time or place to debate them. One thing I know for sure is, the 93 Bill was a hindrance, and Clinton should be thanking his lucky stars, for the way things turned out.

Your analogy is a total non-sequitur. There is no similarity between a proclamation of doom by Rush Limbaugh and a declaration of a threat posed by Saddam Hussein that was proclaimed by two different administrations over a period of over ten years.
