January 27, 2004 -- EXETER, N.H. - Wise-cracking funnyman Al Franken yesterday body-slammed a demonstrator to the ground after the man tried to shout down Gov. Howard Dean. The tussle left Franken's trademark thick-rim glasses broken, but he said he was not injured.

This clown should be prosecuted for assault; he's just a thug!
He was concerned for someone's free speach?!? He obviously doesn't understand the concept!
Al Franken would make a great Nazi.

"I got down low and took his legs out," said Franken afterwards. Franken said he's not backing Dean but merely wanted to protect the right of people to speak freely. But...but...but isn't that what the heckler was doing...speaking freely, Mr. Franken?
Typical brain-dead liberal.....free speech for me but not for thee.

Excuse me? That is absolutely unacceptable, thuggish, immature behavior. No matter what, no one should tolerate that sort of behavior.

I'm amazed (and glad) that he's stupid enough to admit the assault!

"I got down low and took his legs out," said Franken afterwards. "I was a wrestler so I used a wrestling move," Franken said.
Gee, it sounds like you just confessed to assault, Einstein.

I read the title and wondered who 'Dean Heckler' was. I figured that if Franken didn't like him, that was points in his favor.

Sounds like it could be a publicity stunt set-up to me, at least in this case. What better whipping boy than the LaRouchies,..I mean they are nuts so its totally believable they'd begin heckling Howie or any of the other Dems.
I've been involved in countless campaigns on the local, state, and federal level - and these types of set-up occurences are not uncommon at speeches, rallys, and debates. The fracas becomes the story. Franken may be a fool, but he's no dummy.

No wonder liberals like him support unions. They're thugs at heart. Hear someone saying something you don't like ? Beat them to a bloody pulp untill they submit.
Stalin would be proud.
