High school student steals school bus in Ingham County
The Associated Press

MASON, Mich. (AP) A high school student was arrested after authorities say he stole a school bus and drove erratically before being found asleep inside the vehicle.
The 18-year-old Holt High School student could be charged with unlawfully driving away a vehicle and operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, said Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth.
"If you take a 40-long, yellow bus, you're going to get caught," Wriggelsworth told the Lansing State Journal.
The sheriff's department got a call around midday Monday about the school bus being driven erratically. A deputy spotted the bus parked halfway off a road and found the student passed out inside.
No injuries or damages were reported. The Webberville Community Schools bus had been taken from the Capital Area Career Center in Mason.

My brother and I pinched a brand new traffic light when we were kids. We tried for the phone booth first but decided the light would be easier to explain to the old man.

Damn, indeed! :-)
...could be charged with unlawfully driving away a vehicle...
Is that a new-fangled, fancy way of saying he stole it? Is unlawfully driving away with it better or worse than unlawfully towing it away?

ROFL! My husband and I wanted to move to Mason before we finally settled in Grass Lake! Mason, FYI, is a gorgeous little town that features the Ingham County Seat building. It's got one of those 5-and-dime stores (with the toys in the basement) that many of us grew up and loved.
Its a cute town and worth a stop, if you're traveling up 127.

The funniest part with that 2nd post is that Gene Wriggelsworth (D) is one of the worst gun grabbers in the state. He was the treasurer of the anti-CCW group.

I've know the building well from my East Lansing Days. Been there a few times when the commish took a left turn...which is often.
