I've been reading a couple different left sites other then the DU .. and yes there are some that have been keeping an eye on FR

I don't look at the others. DU is all the comic relief I need. When I think that FR is being overrun with idiots, I go over to DU, laugh my butt off at what they call debate and analysis, and come back here to FR, more appreciative of what we have here. I don't need that tonic too often. I often think that Rush considerably understates his case against the libs after reading a few threads on the Dark Side.

I think that the earlier waves of disruptors that came here directly from DU are well-screened nowadays. If they post a link and a DUmmy clicks it, our forum's scripts undoubtedly throw up a flag for the moderators since every HTTP request shows the site you came from when you enter.

And I think that's only the beginning of the sophistication of FR's software and moderators. There's evidence of considerably more elegant stuff too. It goes well beyond simple IP tracking unless I've missed my guess.

Our staff isn't asleep at the wheel.

I agree with you that the arguments are old and boring, but I'm not gonna sit back while these 3rd party unappeasables (who most likely never voted for Bush anyway) throw bombs at the rest of us and spout the Dem talking points.

President Bush has proposed a cap on increased spending for this fiscal year at 4%

Oh wow! So, there will be more spending coming. Since the economy is growing at 8% per quarter, the President will have tons more to spend next year over and above the level of inflation. And that is a conservative thing to do? How about reducing discretionary spending. You guys love to talk about incremental change. How about incremental decrease? Maybe growth in spending by 0%, which means no extra spending and no cuts from previous year. That should be incremental, don't you think?

The problem exactly lies in the President's budget. He outlines billions in discretionary spending. If you understand so much about politics, you must understand that as Republicans in Congress it is hard to vote against the President's agenda. If the President doesn't campaign for you or if he directs the party to shut off election money, then your career in Congress is over. If Clinton proposed expanding Medicare, you bet it would have never passed in Congress. It is hard for a tiny Congressman to stand up against the power of the Presidency. Secondly, why should we excuse the President? He is one man, and that is where we should focus for change. It is hard to focus on 535 people than on one. If the President was a conservative he would use his bully-pulpit to not propose huge budgets in the first place. He would use his bully-pulpit to veto measures like CFR and Sarbanes-Oxley. He is asking Congress to play goalie for him so he could have an easy ride through 2004. No George, the buck starts and stops in your desk. You cannot pretend that you have nothing to do with the buck. As Cromwell said, "By God, be gone!"

I don't disagree with you either. I have sent many, MANY emails to the WH, as well as made calls to congressmen, etc.

Silence is affirmation and there are a lot of things we should not be silent about.

This statement is key. This is where the 'I am sitting this election out' phrase comes in. And I simply can not understand how a silent protest accomplishes anything.

We haven't stopped kissing his ass. I read one story in FR today that the Bush administration tied Israel's hands earlier this year from pursuing their war on terrorism by stopping them from taking out Arafat and his terrorist cronies.

This is my last post to you -- since you like to argue go find another Freeper. Since you said that, it is obvious that you don't understand budgets.

Not worth my time to explain.

Think of the money Terry McAuliffe is saving right here on FR.

Two arguments (if you want to call them that) I loathe the most are:

1. Bush is a socialist
2. If you don't vote for Bush, you'll get Hillary

I think both comeback are rather empty.

The truth hurts, eh?

Ah, witty riposte fails me at the moment.

It seems you're having the same problem.

Are you here hoping to provoke something? I am, speaking for myself, perfectly happy with this thread and its premise. Not spoiling for any fights today.

I have forgotten more about govt than you ever knew. You just had no coherent reply to my post, and you are simply being defensive. At least, I applaud you for not going haywire, although passive aggressive is not a good trait either.

Then change your name, dear
Make it clear
Just you will support.

You're not 4Bush ...
your mission seems to be
a strange cohort.

If you eschew hypocrisy...
Then change your name and prove it.

And when you do, please let us see,
so mods will not remove it.

I have sent many, MANY emails to the WH, as well as made calls to congressmen, etc.

But that's not enough for these people; they seem to demand some sort of public repudiation of Bush from those of us who refuse to go over the cliff with them.

It's amusing to me that, altough they accuse us of marching in lockstep, that, apparently is just what they want from us, to march lockstep with them. They seem thoroughly offended because people have opinions differing from theirs.

How soon you forget, Arafat is praying to Allah for a Democrat to get elected, and probably sending love letters to Madeleine Albright.!!

And there are people right here on FR who intend to help him!
