Every profession has its unofficial list-of-things-you-don't-say, and politics is no exception. A leading entry: Never call for a tax increase.
At least, not by name. Instead, do what the Democratic presidential candidates do: Cloak your increase in the reassuring moniker "tax reform."

Flat Tax or NRST. I'll start with either one, but I prefer the NRST and would hope eventually to move in that direction.
The current code clientele that would revolt if either were tried is a vast system of lawyers, accountants, civil servants, and tax preparers, software companies, and philanthropic organizations.
There are so many jobs and so much money generated by those who service this tax code that they will pour billions against any effort to change this system.
