This flood of illegal immigrants is the result of a series of policy mistakes over the past 12 years, including the years GW's been in office.

How will another mistake help?

Probably accounts for the fact that 12 years ago, in this exact town, nobody spoke spanish. Now you hear it every day.

Bush's proposal has been reported is on hold for this year.. this sounds like good news but the real news (and it's bad) is that Mexicans will be encouraged all the more by Bush's mention of it in the State of the Union address. It will be interesting to see what the rate of illegals immigrating raises to in the next year.

My husband amd I were debating Bush's merits. He is an attorney and therefore exposed to a lot of liberal leaning people. I explained to him what the President is doing with homeland security and that he is trying to create the immigrant proposal to document the illegal immigrants who are here to work. He claims that in his practice he sees more people that are jailed and deported for not having proper papers than ever before, accusing Bush of harrassing minorities. I'm not sure if that is statistically true, but I'm sure it's one of many accusations among the liberal crowds against Bush. Thank God Bush does not go along with the "round 'em up and shoot 'em" crowd. Otherwise we will have no chance in the next election. President Bush is truly a compassionate conservative. If he wasn't the mud would stick and we would lose the confidence of many independents.

I think I saw it posted yesterday that the percentage of immigrants in the US will double in the next oh, twenty years, including illegal aliens. Guess who's going to be outnumbered. Guess which language will go the way of the dodo.
