The reason for locking the previous thread may not hold water for you, but believe me, every time any of the moderators attempted to access the thread the entire system slowed down. There is a known problem with how the database software works and John Robinson has not yet fixed it.

If we were trying to hide something, we could have just pulled the thread. We didn't. We merely locked it so that no more replies could be posted. The entire thread is still visible to anyone who wants to read it.

We then invited participants to start a new thread.

You have to understand that most people on this (and the old thread) are at least slightly paranoid, so they think of the "conspiracy" type explanation first. :)

That is reasonable as no one would want to slow down FR especially with 02/02/04 looming, but I wish you had announced that prior to locking it up. Thanks for explaining it on this thread.

But in Chat?! . This is a thread for WOT with alot of hardworking man hours by people who post information, translations, articles, government info etc. This thread has been informative for so many people and the survival tips have been invaluable. Chat? . That is the Inult
