UFO frenzy after Melbourne photo

MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- A mysterious photo has sparked a UFO frenzy in north Melbourne, Australia.

Roland Rozario, a council officer, was doing a routine survey of a railway level crossing with a colleague last week, taking 10 or 12 photos, reports the Melbourne Herald Sun.

I think that image is fake. The "UFO" has a faint rectangular white outline around it. The color of the sky around the "UFO" looks lighter than the rest of the background. And the pixels are larger near the "UFO" than in the rest of the picture. The are only 12 months in a year, and the date stamp shows this picture was taken on the first day of the 15th month in 2004 -- and yet it's only 1.23.2004 so far. It's very crude. Too many mistakes.

All but your last point are valid - this was taken in Australia, in many other countries they date day/month/year, indicating January 15.

The common date format in much of the world is day/month/year.

You most likely can change the date settings on your digital camera to day/month/year. Check out the date functions on your digital camera.

It was a joke. And YYYY/MM/DD is a much better system than MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY.
