Protest Bush in Greenwich, CT - January 29 - 6 PM. Hyatt Hotel Route 1. The Student Coalition for Peace and Democracy (SCPAD), headed by Joshua Allen and Igor Zhukovsky, has organized and will lead the demonstration. A few reporters have already agreed to cover the demonstration and the possible sign-making house party one to two days prior to the event. Media coverage will not be a problem. But we need numbers. Anyone who can make it would be highly appreciated. If you are interested, please contact us (see below). We are particularly interested in cell-phone numbers for the relaying of last-minute information. If you intend to attend the protest, please respond describing how likely it is that you will attend or how many people from your organization are interested. Our location is accessible. The demonstration will be right off I-95 on the Post Road at the Greenwich/Stamford Border. Please contact: Joshua Allen, 203-637-7995, 203-550-1489 (cell), Joshinog2@aol.com or Igor Zhukovsky 203-531-4590, bob_the_russian@hotmail.com.

I came across one of their flyers and this is their mantra:-
- Most jobs lost since great Depression, more than last 11 presidents combined. - Bush has created the largest deficit in history while giving tax cuts to the wealthy. - Our civil liberties have ben restricted with the PATRIOT Act - Bush has underfunded Education, Homeland Security, Medicare. - The world has lost all respect for us and our government. - Bush has continously MISLED and LIED to the public he pretends to serve. - An illegal war fought poorly with no exit plan and with no end in sight. 502 Americans soldiers dead (two a day), and counting

I'm not going to say one word what I think of these people because my father always taught me to speak softly and be respectful. Oh, and by the way, my father also taught me to carry a big stick. :)

I am inclined to agree with you. Bush is taking a lot for granted.

"As a conservative, I might like to show up and protest him, too! He oughta dance with the one that brung him, and he ain't doin it. I am mad. V's wife."
TWO QUESTIONS:
1.) Who comprises the President's base? Libertarians? Bucchannites? Members of the Consitution Party? Republicans?
If you answered Republicans, you would be correct! In last week's ABCNews/WashingtonPost Poll, 93% of Republicans indicated that they APPROVE of the President's job performance!
2.) If, as you claim, the "base" disapproves of the President's performance relative to some issues, on what policy or performance issues does the base agree?
--WAR ON TERROR? (THE overriding issue!)
--NATIONAL SECURITY?
--ECONOMIC PRO-GROWTH AGENDA? (a comprehensive pro-marriage, pro-small business, pro-ownership plan that includes MUCH more than simple tax relief)
--PRO-LIFE INITIATIVES? (e.g., Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, Partial Birth Abortion ban, support for Unborn Victims of Violence Act, funding for crisis pregnancy centers, adoption programs, and on and on and on)
--CHARACTER/LEADERSHIP/FAITH?
--and so on, and so on, and so on!
I'll answer by citing the following comments from the President's BASE ('real' people NOT policy wonks/ideological demagogues -- and no, I'm not saying you qualify as the latter; although, if the shoe fits. . . ?):
"President Bush enjoyed a friendly crowd at Roswells Convention and Civic Center (NM) on Thursday as he hammered home points from this weeks State of the Union address.
Curry County Sheriff Roger Hatcher was among the supporters.
Im glad we have a president with backbone, whos not afraid to make difficult decisions, regardless of how it affects his chances for re-election,
The people of the world trust the word of America, he said to whoops and hollers from the crowd.
Sheriff Hatcher summarized Bushs speech as excellent, and Undersheriff Doug Bowman agreed with him.
Im grateful for his respect for law enforcement and the military. Weve got a president who stands behind us 110 percent, Bowman said.
Jordan Strebeck, a Clovis High School senior and student body president, also made the trip to Roswell. He said for someone who is interested in politics, Bushs speech was one of the coolest things Ive ever seen.
I think he really cares about America and the people of America, he added.
Strebecks friend Jason Seefeld, also a CHS senior, said Bushs stands on the war on terror and home-front security impressed him.
It was a once-in-a lifetime experience for us to come here and hear what he had to say, Seefeld said.
Roswell resident Dottie Edwards said this was only the second time a sitting president has visited Roswell. Ronald Reagan visited the city in 1984. She said what she liked best about Bushs speech was his honesty about the issues."

Oh back in the good ole days of the Ussr, this was called a disinformation rally. You call yourself one thing to cover what you really are. Hoping some of the fools will fall for it. It appears it works for some. But, sadly for them, disinfo etc is lost in the world of mass factual info today.

Absolutely and I am just venting. And of course I agree with DrDeb's points on Security. The pro-life stuff has been merely a thrown bone, imho. The crux of my complaint with President Bush is the incredible increase in domestic spending. He enlarged the Education Department, and the No Child Left Behind ought to encourage a burgeoning overenmployment of teachers for years to come as well as a focus on teaching to the test--process instead of content knowledge. This overbloated government is a disgrace. He hasn't gotten the judges he's needed and it can't entirely be blamed on the Democrats. When he was confronted, he quieted down. I want conservative judges, less government, and a moral leader who'll use his position to sell the country on the positives of the moral life. I want security and, as I said, he's done well on that. But there's no denying I have some problems with President Bush. V's wife.

I was pleased to see that a dozen or so conservatives protested Bush's appearance at a college in New Mexico the other day.
His cheer-leading for illegal aliens and failure to enforce existing immigration laws make him a deserving target of protest.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Don't you get tired of these "fair weather" supporters of Bush? "If I don't get all of my way.....I'll punish you by letting someone become President (the Demos), who will take all my toys.!" Did some so-called "Conservatives" learn anything from 8 years of Clinton? Apparently not!

Yeah, but everything the protesters say is a lie, and protesting with them would validate their lies.

I will repeat this until I am blue in the face. I AM ONE OF THE BASE, and I'm not happy with President Bush. I've voted Republican in every primary and every general since (come to think of it, I've been voting R for so long, I can't remember how long it's been). I try to convert people to the Republican party at every chance I get.
His courting of illegals, excessive spending and bending over backwards to set a "new tone" have flat turned me off. I have heard the violent arguments and flames about how it only helps to elect a liberal if I vote Libertarian or Constitution Party. At some point, it just becomes very hard to vote for someone who espouses policies that I viscerally disagree with. I'm not looking for him to show up and throw a hand grenade into the Democratic National Committee headquarters, I'm just looking to him to differentiate between Republican and Democratic policies.
Anyone who feels inclined to flame this, I have to say, read the first and second sentences again. There are a lot of us out here who feel the same way. I'm seeing more and more posts just like this one.

But we need numbers.Maybe they can invite Clark, who should fit in well.
Clark blames Bush for the rise in college costs.
