Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa, who endorsed Howard Dean in his bid for the presidential nomination, said Thursday that Dean hurt his chances with his arm-swinging speech in Des Moines following his third-place caucus finish.

Harkin, a Democrat, also criticized the former Vermont governor's advertising in the last days before the caucuses. He praised rivals John Kerry and John Edwards for running "great" campaigns in Iowa, and said Dean needs to bring his wife on the campaign trail more.

The leader of the left wing looney's in Iowa tries to weasel and alibi his support of the mad Doctor Dean. Harkin has been a total embarrassment to conservatives in Iowa for years. His association and endorsement of this leftist loser is very gratifying.

I love Harkin's step in the "dung-heap" with this endorsement.

Dean's performance was very much like the performance of Harkin at the Wellstone funeral. Think about it.......

Wowie Howie

Even dems think you’re a freak,
I’d say that’s pretty weird.
No longer you’re the golden boy,
The sheeple had you sheared.
From first to third in one fell swoop,
The nosedive happened fast.
Lucky you that some dropped out,
Kept you from being last.
The last to know there is no chance,
You’ll ever get elected.
Moseley-Braun could see the signs,
She knew she’d be rejected.
But you just kept on spewing out,
Look out Dean, you’re exploding.
And what’s up with that screaming speech,
It looks like you’re imploding.

In watching Deans speech, in question, you can clearly see Tom Harkin in the background.

His facial expressions, during Deans uninsplicable tirade, reminded me of an old man with senile dementia.

Senator ....... Senator Hawkin? The speech is over Senator. They are locking up the building now, and we must leave. Here, let me wipe your chin.

"The people of Vermont would not re-elect raving maniacs five times in a row," said Harkin.

I wouldn't be sure about that...

My guess is that Teddy Kennedy had a little meet up with Harken.

There is so much going on behind the scenes that we'll need a scorecard of nefarious deals.

At this point my guess, and it's not even an educated guess, is that half the dems are behind Kerry/Kennedy and the pliable half is behind Clark/Clinton.

Hmmmm...who are the stupidest voters in the US, Iowans who automatically return Harken to the Senate every election, or Massachusett voters who inflict Kennedy on the country every six years? Our founding fathers could not have foreseen that we would actually have citizens so lacking in common sense and a love for freedom or they would have included in the Constitution a provision whereby the rest of the states could kick these losers out of the Union.

"I know what he was trying to do," Harkin said Thursday. "He had about 3,000 basically young people there that had been freezing all weekend, helping to try to get out his vote, and I think he just wanted to lift them up, rev them up a little bit."
Ok, understood. Now explain to me why I should vote for a guy that gets so caught up in the moment that he forgets about the media and evryone else and goes crazy yelling "YAAAAAAAARRRHHHH!!!!!" while flapping his arms and trying to fly?

Actually, the constitution originally provided for the indirect selection of senators by the individual states. Direct election of senators is provided by an ammendment passed in the previous century. The framers were against direct democracy which they viewed as mob rule. Turns out, they were right.

Harkin's comments were full of "damned with faint praise." I wouldn't want him for a friend.

In this case Harkin was an opportunist not a friend. A good lesson for all.

Next time you see the clip of Dean's rant, pay attention to Harkin, who is standing behind Dean. His expression is priceless, as if he can't believe Dean's rant and is torn between appearing to support Dean and running far, far away, where people won't remember him standing there behind Dean when it happened.

Harkin looked like the blithering doofus he is. I thought it was funnier than Dean's tirade. I kept waiting for the "Holy s---, what's he doing?" look to cross his face, but it never did.

LOL!

I loved the Harkin and Gore endorsements that went down the drain with Dean.

The strangest part of the whole thing was Dean going to Plains, GA, only to be NON-endorsed by Jimmy Carter. How dumb is that?

I wouldn't want my name in the same paragraph with Jimmy Carter's and I'm not running for anything.

You can see the uncertain smile on Harkin's face --- when the Dean "I have a scream" speech begins. The smile slowly changes to a look of sickness and anquish. Harkin's a total louse-ridden RAT, but he's a pro. And he quickly recognized the "I have a scream" speech for what it was: pure suicide.

It's over. Dean's dead.

There will be no resurrection.
