The president made many valid points as he went on the offensive in this final State of the Union speech of his first term in office. He defended his policies and decisions, including the right of the United States to defend itself.

Of course. Or, do you contend there is a third party who could beat either dem or Repub?
Hey, you made your bed in the CA election. You ought to keep quiet about amnesty. If you voted for Arnie and shut up about amnesty then, keep quiet now and vote for W.
I've tried to explain it to you in terms I'm sure a 5th grader could understand. If you still don't get it, fine. But I'll hardly keep quiet on the issue, especilly when some imp like you tells me to.
Have a nice comfy sleep.
Enjoy your kool-aid.
It wasn't an issue. Amnesty has to come from the federal government, not the state.
Let me explain it further...since you obviously lack what it takes to comprehend.
Arnold has no power to make amnesty happen. Even if he did, he'd still have been a better choice that bustamechA.
Remind me. How long after the test run of Arnold being voted in after saying he was "not for amnesty but for legalizing all the illegals" did Bush announce his "not amnesty" amnesty? Thanks for your efforts in the CA election. Hb
I keep hearing this patrol-the-border mantra, as if that would be the ultimate solution to the illegal immigration problem.
However, I remember reading on the INS site (am looking for the link as we speak) that 2/3 of illegal immigrants to this country simply overstay their visas.
Do we stop allowing people from other countries into America as tourists, or to do business?
That would be the only way to stop all illegal immigration.
Think about it. If you are in Mexico and want to come to the U.S., what's from stopping you from saving a few pesos and getting a tourist visa?
Really, I despise illegal immigration as much if not more than the next person, but patrolling the borders with our military is not THE answer. Yes, it might help slightly, but those desparate enough to get here would simply come as tourists, I believe.
I'm opposed to Bush's amnesty for ILLEGALS proposal and I'm going to continue voicing my objections regardless what you or any other Bush-bot thinks about it. If you you've got anything of value to say, by all means please do. Otherwise I'm going to start ignoring your imbecilic rants.
Have you seen the Polling on this issue? It ranks almost dead last on the list of concerns the majority of Americans worry about.
Most people do not consider illegal aliens who cross our borders to find work as a major threat to this country. They think it should be addressed, but I can guarantee you that any attempt to deploy the national guard or deploy U.S. Soldiers on the border will be met with outrage and feed the fears of the liberals that think Adolph Hitler has risen from the grave and is now George W. Bush.
I see no other way to address this problem, than to find a way to encourage the illegals already here, to come clean and be held to account for violating our immigration laws in some way or fashion, I really don't care how it's worded or implemented, but I think the so called "registration fee" of $1,500.00 is a pretty stiff fine for someone who picks Soy Beans or cleans Hotel rooms that very few of us lazy Americans are anxious to do.
FReeper "Sabertooth" has some very good ideas on addressing this problem, and all I would like to see is some kind of discourse that would encourage those who feel the most passionate about this issue, to focus their frustrations on the legislators who President Bush has asked to FINALLY address this important issue that threatens the safety and security of this country and each and every one of us. But guest workers or illegal aliens who come here to work are not what threatens our safety, it's the terrorist who would retain the services of the hundreds of Coyote's who offer their services to smuggle them across the border to the highest bidder.
IMHO this should be a matter for the States to deal with, and if you compare the way Texas deals with this issue to how California deals with it, You will see that California has failed in it's duty to protect it's borders. When liberal swines like Grey Davis has the political strength to push through a Bill that rewards illegals with a drivers license in a clear attempt to pander for votes is who we should hold accountable.
After three years, our borders are more secure, but that doesn't address the fact that illegals don't wait in line at the check points, they cross in the middle of the night for an opportunity to provide for their families and bypass that cluster*uck Gov't. Organization known as the INS
The States have always blamed all their problems on the Federal government and the federal Representatives of those states continually earmark millions of Federal tax money in their feeble attempt to avoid addressing this problem.
I believe it's the responsibility of each state to enforce the laws that apply to our Borders. I firmly believe that the reason why the federal Government has been forced to get involved in things like education and agriculture issues that our founding Fathers declared as the number one priority and responsibility for the States to deal with.
This problem is a direct result of Governors who failed to address this problem on the State Level and simply kicked the can down the road as they lobbied their U.S. Senate and House leaders to load an important piece of legislation with pork that would shelter these governors from the scrutiny of those who elected them.
I firmly believe that the reason why the federal Government has been forced to get involved in things like education and agriculture issues that our founding Fathers declared as the number one priority and responsibility for the States to deal with.
I mean Dude!!!! You d'man! How can I argue with you?!?
The protection of the national border is the State's responsibility, and education should be handled by the Feds!!!!!
Are you voting for Bush too?????
Hb
No Sir, I believe that it's the responsibility of each and every state to educate their Children and control the flow of Commerce and people who enter each State.
"Are you voting for Bush too?????"
Yes, There is no other choice, and despite what many of the so called "True" Conservatives around here think, I believe George W. Bush understands that once he was sworn in as the 43rd President of the United States of America, he understood that he became the President of every American, and not just his base or the Republican Party. This Republic has based all of it's national policies on the basic belief that compromise is what makes a Democratic Republic work for all of America and not just the Party who controls the Executive Branch.
