Correct, there is no reference to cigars. Neither the Senate bill nor the House bill has anything to do with cigars -- it is all about combating cigarette counterfeiting. But the Senate snuck in cigar-related references to the sister bill (S1177) at the very last moment .....and the sucker passed. And if it could happen in the Senate, it could happen again in the House.

All I know is that we all got this notice from JR's, Mikes of North Miami, Thompsons of Tampa and other cigar mail order biggies warning us that some language had been inserted into the Senate bill that included cigars and that passed and now it is in House judiciary committee and they fear the same insertion may take place there.
Note, their newsalert only includes the names of Pubbie Reps yet they do not specify that or why.
I have not seen the bill personally and plan to call Marsha Blackburns office first thing in the morning and ask. I generally have no beef with her at all and supported her bigtime...she lives within one to two miles of my home is the SW Nashville suburbs. My family has been largely broken glass for the party since my Dad and Eisenhower and dad was a Bush Sr "Pioneer" or "Ranger" or whatever they called them then....and yes I will remind them of that. I lack my dad's (RIP) wherewithal but proportionately I am just as committed...not because I am a Bot...I am not but I am a pragmatist.
Like I said...they will hear from me. If it's nothing fine but if it's nothing then all the nations leading stogie dealers are wrong.
I buy probably 2500 bucks of La Glorias per annum and don't wish to pay 2 or 3 times that or not be able to find them like 94-00 when the yuppies and gen x poseurs glommed all of the good stuff and drove prices thru the roof and damaged availiability...hell, it's still not back to normal but better in any event.
Regards and thanks for the heads up for good manners.
Interesting username btw! PS: An odd note....we stogie heads may not be a terribly large group but I'll bet you a box of vinatage Batista Trinis that we are overwhlemingly conservatives...no doubt.

I sure don't miss the poseurs do you?
when you couldn't find anything but shite to smoke and at 4-5 times normal prices.
if a box of AF Hemingway short stories or something tasty came in, they'd put limits on what you could buy.
I quit ciggies at 30 and picked up stogies at a hold-em game 5 years later...at that time...an Excalibur #1 was about a buck at the store...maybe a up to a buck seventy-five....then they went to about 8-12 bucks and now they are down to around 5 bucks retail and 3 mail order.
I used to marvel at how folks would leave 4-5 inches of a double corona of a fine cigar dead in an ashtray...hell, if I knew them or it was a babe, I'd pick it up and relight it....what a waste. I'm a nubbie on the good stuff.

There is an ad somewhere that showed that image.
Yes indeed....I think all of us here will salute the virtue of nice Cubana thighs....and God bless the Cuban expats in Miami....they stopped the perpetual recount before SCOTUS did technically at least in Dade.
Thanks for your help. I'll send some Cuban chicas bien lindas yer way if I see any running around loose here in nashville.

They are pricey Sink and just plain odd but they are strong as hell.
Think smoking a La Gloria or Cohiba wrapped up with a patchouli drenched hippie chick (bathed and shaved). I know it sounds crazy...many folks hate em. I like them maybe 4-5 times a year. I keep some Acid brand on hand in a separate cedar humidor....VERY VERY VERY Important..."Gotta Keep em Separated"...they will affect other cigars with their scent. They are cured and dipped with unusual aromatics...not like rum or vanilla..yuck...different...they do smell good to me at least when they burn but above all they are pungent and very dense and rich. I'd buy just one to try...they make a conical natty dread spliff shaped robusto that is potent.
Good Luck
PS: what I have just said is blasphemy to serious stogie folks and I am one.

Who ever pushed this asinine infrigement on my rights should be forced to sit in a room (size of a typical above-store studio apartment) with me and the old guys from my local cigar shop as we puff away on a coupla' boxes of Don Diego Playboys for a three day smokeathon. By the 10th minute, he would throw himself out the window!

I've been to the old factory when they were still making La Gloria Cubana in Miami. Had to shut it down back in 1999-2000 due to labor costs.
I recommend El Titan de Bronze, which is just like a Partagas, except made in Miami and (oddly enough) cheaper.

I probably wouldn't like Lars Teten.
One of my favorites is still Upmann Columbos. Stodgy? Yes. But Upmann is consistently smooth.
We need a cigar thread from time to time, to talk over different stoges.
It might goose me to start serious smokin' again. As it is, I don't smoke more than two or three a week, mostly on weekends.

smoking half an LGC Charlemagne EMS right now....about 4 inches and 54 gauge and a serious cloud creator.
I like the LGC maduros as well at times.
25 year old Davidoff is a Petrus level smoke....they left Cuba about 1990 didn't they?....though their stores worldwide still stock legit Cubanas.
