To: MEG33; deport
MEG33: The rest would not agree to recess appointments is my understanding.
deport: Just how you going to get the others right now? You mentioned appoint recess appoint two more...... My question and you avoided was "what is the don't or didn't want a recess appointment? What are you going to do, force them?
Exactly how do you 'understand' this, MEG?
Did you just make it up or did they make public statements to that effect? Was there a White House announcement that I missed on FR that told us they refused a recess-appointment?
I'm not talking about Rove rumors and such. Exactly why do you believe this?
I don't think Bush (Rove) offered them the recess appointments. At least, we haven't had a thread on it here and I've seen no reporting to suggest that. Except that some people on this thread seem to want to believe it.
To: Sabertooth
You're a good man, Sabertooth, and I agree with much that you say.
But your analogy doesn't hold true. This is not a business, and we are not customers.
This is a great country, blessed by God, and we are to be responsible citizens.
That means that we protest that with which we disagree, and then, in the end, use our vote for what will be in the best interest of the country.
There are only two people who can win the election in November. Bush, or the Dem candidate.
That's the choice these people need to be honest enough to admit they're making.
If they do, so be it. But they need to live with their choice.

I haven't EARNED the right to vote? Of course you have, and if you choose to vote for Al Sharpton, that's your right.
The point I'm trying to get across is that veteran's know what the actual price of our freedom is. It's paid with blood and tears, and I will not dishonor past, present, and future soliders, sailors, airmen, and Marines by casting my vote because of loyalty to a political party.

You mis-stated. The author didn't cite the broad support he claimed, and you fell for it. I don't.

Bump once again for a voice of reason. I like Zell and Breaux as well. I see room for both of them in W's second term.

I can't understand some of the people here. They say we are a very small minority, but then they start with the "Danger Will Robinson. Danger." "it is your fault that Bush will loose the election". Are we maybe a bigger group than we realize?
The problem is not necessarily our size it is that two things are happening. One we are a voice of decent, we are questioning the president's policies. A president that has the loyality of many. He once had mine. Second and more dangerous to them we are growing. As GWB has moved more to the left more are speaking up.

See, that is one of the problems with the country, we are letting groups like the ACLU, Rainblow/Push, etc. run the country. Who cares if they don't like it, they don't like the Ten Commandments in schools, courts, etc.Your way of thinking, Jesse Jackson will be back sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom, and if Al Sharpton gets 30% of the votes in SC, he will be there too.!!

Explain this to me; those of us that are talking of maybe not voting for Bush, are we a very small group? If so, "Let not your heart be troubled" because our little group will not change the results of the election.
Or are we a large group? If so, this would explain your being paranoid as we can truely affect the outcome. If that is the case, maybe Bush needs to seriously consider what we are saying.
So which are we, small and insignificant or big and significant?

WoW! That was a strange analogy.
President Bush is not taking conservatives for granted. He has to make real decisions in a real world, and some of those won't make conservatives happy.
It was true for Reagan, and it is true for Bush.
Besides which, no one was fooled into thinking he was a straight line conservative from the beginning IF they were listening.
He campaigned on education reform, and got it. He campaigned on reforming Medicare, and got it. He campaigned on tax cuts, and got them.
He's being true to his own principles, and in the end, Conservatives will get more from 8 years of his presidency than we did in 8 years with Reagan.

Maybe both roads end up at the same place, so then it really would not matter.

I, too, consider myself a conservative Repubican, despite being told repeatedly on this forum that I'm not a "real conservative."
And you have yet to answer my first question to you:
Why don't you tell us all your vision of the country when the Democrats return to power. Exactly what will you have accomplished?
Are you avoiding answering that?
