"The administration of the school now seems to be kind of backtracking on their commitment to free speech..." Well the problem is they were trying to exercise the wrong kind of free speech. I'm sure the administration will tell you they remain fully committed to free speech.....limited free speech, that is.
As for health problems that are caused by the homosexual lifestyle, they are not protected by the free speech privilege. Spreading such information falls under the hate speech file and therefore it is to be excluded from the free speech protections, as in:
"I hate it when you come down with ______________ ."

Reportedly the GLBA has contacted the ACLU
"Do you really think that the ACLU will suppport them?"
GLBA = Gay, Lesbian, and Bi-Sexual Alliance, so I would have to say YES.

So the ACLU now goes from supporting unpopular speech to oppressing it. Figures.

The ACLU was the first to use the phrase "Radical Conservative" what ever the hell that's supposed to mean.
To: HEY4QDEMS
I get the impression that the ACLU, which claims to support the Bill of Rights, thinks that the principles of Bill of Rights lead naturally to communism.
So a "radical conservative" might be someone who thinks the principles in the Bill of Rights would naturally disallow communism.

Wayne Lela and John McCartney were subjected to the shouting and heckling of a large group of homosexual activists who ridiculed the two men for presenting factual information about the dangers of the homosexual lifestyle. There is no truth to the rumor that the gay men attempted to hit them with their purses and scratch their eyes out.

There is so much wrong w/ this I don't know where to start. How about, accusing people of "hate speech" and trying to silence them without just cause, ought to be considered itself "hate speech".

"Lela and McCartney say the intolerance shown by homosexual activists is remarkable. The pro-family committee's founders feel that homosexual activists have been able to push their agenda
by trading on the perception that homosexuals are the victims of intolerance, even while they act out intolerance against those who disagree with them. 'These men and women have been getting by on manipulating ordinary Christians and other believers and people who object to the homosexual lifestyle. They've been getting away with intimidation, using guilt, like this Matthew Shepard case,' McCartney says.
And Lela says the tactics used by homosexual activists to drive public opinion and push their agenda include 'intimidation and emotional blackmail--emotional manipulation.'"
Well-said, and well worth repeating. And ironically, this is a situation in which the little people, us nobodies, have more power than the celebrities. Have you ever seen what happens to a celebrity or a large organization who/which dares to speak up and dissent over any of the opinions the homosexual activists force on the rest of us? They are practically tarred and feathered. It's almost like homosexuals must gather for their marching orders periodically, and perhaps a leader comes out and says, "Listen up, people! Here's the latest list of the ones we need to hate: Anita Bryant, Dr. Laura, The Salvation Army, the Boy Scouts..." and on and on. The list grows longer all the time; hope they can all keep it straight. (Ooops... poor choice of words...) As a result, public commentators and large companies run from the issue like frightened animals. They are intimidated into silence.
And with the hate they visit on anyone who is different from them, how ironic that homosexual activists have co-opted the old song, "You have to be taught, Before it's too late, To hate all the people your relatives hate..." That song should be their national anthem. They live it, and seem to swear by it.

"Americans Awaken to the AIDS Crisis, 1985"
__________________________
Wall Street Journal (12/18/89), P. B1
__________________________
Abstract: America considered AIDS the "gay plague" until 1985, when Rock Hudson's death made AIDS a household word, according to an entry in the Wall Street Journal's Centennial Journal, which recounts major events in the paper's 100-year history.
In 1983, the head of the U.S. Public Health Service said AIDS was no threat to the publicb--only 1,450 people were infected at the time, all of them gay and bisexual men and IV drug users.
By 1985, AIDS was a global public health crisis, and statistics in Africa presaged rising heterosexual transmission of HIV.
This year, the government will spend almost $1.3 billion on AIDS research and treatment, but a vaccine--a silver bullet--is still a remote possibility.

for engaging in so-called "homosexual harassment," This is just too much. Some people sit behind a table and hand out literature. Then people come by and chant a shout them down, and fling condoms at them. And the people just distributing literature are the ones accused of harrassment. This country is going so backwards it's mind boggling.
