Howard Dean spent part of the morning today explaining what one network television interviewer called his "explosive" speech Monday night telling supporters he would not give up......
Dean referred to his frenetic, shouting appearance before supporters in Iowa after the caucus results became known, a performance that led NBC's Katie Couric to tell him this morning, "Some people watching feared you might implode."
"Do you think things got a little out of control and you got a little over the top?" she asked Dean on the Today Show. "Can you explain that?"
Dean replied, "Thirty-five hundred young people showed up in Iowa to help me win the caucuses. We didn't win, but I thought I owed them a little bit of fun. We're going to have some fun in this race."
........
"Well, you've got to have a little fun in this business," said Dean.
"Some people also said it was decidedly unpresidential," Storm said. "Why'd you take that tone after finishing third?"
Dean answered, "There were 3,500 young people that came to Iowa to work for me, and they worked hard. We didn't get as many votes as I would have liked to, but they worked hard. I thought they deserved everything I could give them. And that's what they're going to get for the next eight days in New Hampshire as well."
It wasn't what Dean said, which was normal, but the animated way he said it that inspired the questions.

Nikita Dean is reaching for damage control. He would have done better taking off his shoe and pounding it on a desk for emphasis to show he's a harmless jolly fellow "blowing off steam."

Fineman on Hardball.....Dean is very dangerous to the Democrats. He will not go quietly.
To: Poundstone
I've seen politicians trying to pump up the faithful.
Dean was WAY beyond that.
I pray that he doesn't get the nomination. Why? Think of how stupid the average person you meet is. Think of how crazy the average person you meet is. Now realize that half of the people out there are even more stupid and even crazier than those benchmarks. (Yipe.)

I agree I did not see anything wrong with his speech. He was trying to fire up the troops. Just like Teddy. Guess I maybe nut's. McCain laughed at it but he has done the same thing. Look at Dem's like Frankin.

Art thou friend or troll? Dean acted like a loon.

I suspect but cannot prove that the reason the wife is being "cached" during the campaign is that she is a nastier piece of work than he is - like the ketchup girl.

He's applying to be the most powerful leader in the world.... that calls for a bit more self-control than a drunk fan at a hockey game.
I'm sure he appreciated your support, however, and he'll need it even more when he remains angry and powerless after November.
