I don't get what is going on with FR as of late. I didn't find the President's speech up to par. I thought it was below average and I have no idea what the hell steroid use and the state of the union have in common...total pointless crap.

Bush skipped the big issues with me tonight...especially what his plan is for immigration. Yeah, I caught what he said about not granting amnesty and all of that but he stayed away from the real issues of border safety and control and what we are going to do about it. Nothing about Osama bin-Laden at all. His name was not even mentioned. WTF? Nothing about the road map and the corruption of Syria and where America will stand there. Nothing on how he plans on getting more jobs in this country and not out of this country. Nothing on when he plans on stoping spending like a madman.

So many other issues he stayed away from.

I got so much heat in here tonight because I said the speech was horrible. Well....it was. It was filled with a lot of rhetoric and old news. Hell, we didn't even get a speech on space with the Moon and Mars where he is planning on billions and billions to be spent.

I worked damn hard to get this man elected for 2 yrs. Day and Night for W. Raised money,walked streets of Palm Beach, stood in pouring rain outside the recount,marched and fought Dem's on street corners for months and months. Dedicated road trips and other convoys to see him.

He has lamed out on me as a Conservative Republican. Bush is doing an EXCELLENT job as President for the War. The stock market is on the rise and has been but notice the one huge key in all of this??!?!? HE DID NOT MENTION THAT U.S. DOLLAR HAS SUNK TO SHIT!

CFR was another letdown.

I just get insulted for being a true conservative and then have people on this board tell me to get a life and go to DU and go to hell and all of that other crap. Why? Because I said a Bush speech sucked? C'mon people. We are not sheep here. Bush had better become a Conservative real soon or my voter I.D. will stay in my wallet this November.

Sorry Jim. You know I support FR 100% and I love this place for the most part...but this place is running mad with Bush Blindness. It's like Conservatives have little to no respect or voice on this site anymore and that is sad. I want to watch the DNC go down just as much as the next guy. But to take the heat like I have just over saying a SOTU speech was horrible, is just plain bullying.

Well, I'm kinda resigned to the President spending like a madman. Don't worry, I'll still rant about it from time to time.
The steroid thing was definitely pointless crap, but overall, there was less pointless crap this year than in previous years.
The President's "Not an Amnesty" Amnesty for Illegals is a fixation of his that we'll just have to deal with whenever that mood strkes him.
The highlights were the WoT, Tax cuts, and the best part of the speech was raising the possibility of a Constitutional Amendment for the definition of marriage.
Overall, I scored this year's SOTU a B+

I know exactly what you mean.

It's weird, eh? One year I'm taking crap from some for supporting Bush, the next year I'm taking crap from others for not saying "thank you" every time that man decides to slap my face. It's especially annoying to be classed with malcontents and one-issue voters after having given Bush my full support for three years.

CFR and this Amnesty sham have left me a very unhappy camper. He needs to start throwing more bones our way, and soon. I would like to feel a little happy about having to vote for him.

It wasn't Bush's best speech by any means, I caught a nap in the middle of it.

He was not delivering a speech riding on the emotions of a 9/11, he was not rallying the country behind him, he was talking mostly to Congress...that's boring.

He spoke at length on the immigration issue some days ago when he enjoined Congress to reform the current immigration laws, he has nothing to do now but wait and see what Congress does, and like it or not, the issue does not resonate with the American people to the extent that it resonates with FReepers. Don't mistakenly assume that we here are representative of a cross-section of America, we are mostly political junkies with no lives. :-)

"None" and "Not Sure" beat immigration/illegal aliens by a 7 to 1 margin.

What I don't understand is your complaint about the speech being filled with old news, coupled with complaints that he did not deliver "a speech" on the topics of immigration and the space program...two issues that he delivered extensive speeches on less than two weeks ago.

I don't see conservatives being censored here very often. I am a bit tired of those who think they have a monopoly on conservative issues, and label anybody who disagrees with them as Bush-bots.

I think there's plenty of room for disagreement here. At least as far as most posters go.

I have seen some censorship by those running the site, but that happens in any online forum.
