April 28, 1971, 4:33 p.m. President Richard M. Nixon takes a call from his counsel, Charles Colson.
"This fellow Kerry that they had on last week," Colson tells the president, referring to a television appearance by John F. Kerry, a leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

"Colson, in a secret memo, revealed he had a mission to target Kerry: "Destroy the young demagogue before he becomes another Ralph Nader.""
You know, I sure do like the "new" Colson...but don't you just gotta miss the "old" Colson, a little bit?

Kerry doesn't get his nails dirty, does he?
Like John McCain, Kerry's built his biography almost exclusively on his military experience.
There's not much else there, except a life pimping that experience for public office.
In addition to marrying well for the second time, what else has he done?

Yeah, Colson is syrup now. There hasn't been a hardball conservative like him in Washington ever since.

Yeah. I think he even had a tour in Vietnam. I think he mentioned it in one of his speeches.

There hasn't been a hardball conservative like him in Washington ever since. Lee Atwater was pretty vicious, though his life-ending cancer mellowed him.
But there was no more beautiful campaign in the 20th century than his systematic dismantling of Michael Dukakis.

Colson, in a secret memo, revealed he had a mission to target Kerry: "Destroy the young demagogue before he becomes another Ralph Nader.""Destroy the old demagogue and make sure he loses like Ralph Nader.

"Destroy the young demagogue before he becomes another Ralph Nader." Thats pretty funny in retrospect, you have to admit.

That's true. But Willie Horton stuff didn't land Atwater in jail.

Senator Kerry and his wife own several homes. Martha's Vineyard, Beacon Hill, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. The elitists heat and cool each one without much of a problem. They use all this energy while telling everyone he is for the common man and all his problems. Does he think this up while being flown to his island home or does it come from his staff? The Democrats pretend to understand how it is for the people. They have no clue at all.
To: marron
Colson liked to play secret agent man. And he and some others, like Liddy, pretended they were super spies on super-important missions. In reality they were sloppy amatuers.

The abortion advocate, CINO John F-ing Kerry. Our Church had best stand aside and not "subtly" endorse him.

It seems that the Clintons, having dispatched Dean, are shifting to their next target, the french-looking Vietnam veteran. And dragging out the corpse of Richard Nixon to use as the cudgel.

I don't know what it is with the filthy rich and sweaters around their shoulders. I've seen Teresa Kerry on two ocassions, on C-Span a day before Iowa, and then after the results, both times wearing a sweater around her shoulders.

He's a better man today. And, as you know, he'd never return to his former soul-state.
To: oldironsides
They use all this energy while telling everyone he is for the common man and all his problems. If this was all they did I could shrug it off. But they have to go on and lecture us about how we're "destroying the environment" when we heat and cool our much more modest places.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender asks him "What'll ya have?"
The horse answers, "Dewars and water, please."
Bartender says "You got it..."
Five minutes later John Kerry walks into the bar.
The bartender asks him "Why the long face?"
