i really admired the man (in fact i had a weird secret crush...he looked like a big teddy bear). i watched his show when he began as news manager on msnbc and was always impressed with his impartiality and intelligence.
he wasn't a blow-dried robotic news person. he was ill for over a year, in fact he was guesting a few weeks ago and i thought how good it was to have him back.
rest easy, jerry.

I used to watch his show once in awhile. But I was out of the loop on the cancer diagnosis. I commented to my wife just a couple of weeks ago that he didn't look good.
Very sad.

This news makes me very sad. I liked to listen to him. I always remember him to try to be fair. He often pointed out the liberal bias in the media. He even said he was guilty of it.

Got donuts? I once saw him eat one on the air.
I liked this man, but one has to care of oneself

he was a real new york kind of guy...prior to moving to california he was editor of the post (or was it the news).
he had a very comforting personality, i was hoping he'd beat the cancer. i seem to remember his last show (on the nachman report) when he mentioned he'd be out for awhile because of medical problems.....
To: My Favorite Headache
What a shame. He was one of the very few newsmen who told it straight, whether I agreed with him or not. His presence will be missed greatly.

My grandpa died at 60 from heart disease. I try to only eat red meat once per week and pork no more than once per month, even tho I love both.
More sushi. More Omega 3 less bad fat.
This is a lesson for me and all.

Did he use to be on WCBS Newsradio 88 in New York? I listened to them for the longest time, until I discovered WABC 77.
