Yes, he was a sitting Senator, but he was appointed to the Senate for the sole purpose of bolstering his Presidential run. Also, he had prior executive branch experience (which my query originally had as a restriction- a sitting Senator without Gubernatorial experience).
Even if we give it to Jackson, it is very, very rare, and has not happened in modern times.

Or it means that they were never behind the "union candidates" in the first place.

He still owes 5 million for his senate campaign.
Here comes the class warfare!

Howard Dean lost because he tried to steal the metrosexual vote from Edwards - and failed.

A large number of Iowan union members are actually Republicans. However, there was a lot of money and effort spent on behalf of Dean and Gephardt.
Sea change here. I am wondering if mischief is afoot, eh?

he has supposedly collected 50 million dollars in legal fees in his career as an ambulance chaser, where is that cash? he must be getting big trial lawyer contributions.

These results tonight tell me just how screwed up the democrats are right now.I agree with you, not to mention the fact that Iowa and New Hampshire are not exactly good cross sections of the Dems main constituencies. And not for one second do I believe that the Clinton's want to see a Democrat victory in 2004. This leads me to believe they would like to see Kerry get the nod, trading their fund raising support for his agreement not to upset the McAuliffe apple cart.

Edwards doesn't shave yet, the pretty boy
Of course he does, he's just wearing a suit right now and you can't see the razorburns.

Edwards..... I don't know were he came from but I'll never forget he is a trial lawyer....
In a state like Iowa where the process depends upon getting the warm bodies to the meeting site rather just to pull a lever can be influenced by a relative small group. Thus if the trial lawyers are truly putting some push behind him then their local contacts can go a long way in a situation like Iowa... jmo.

Did Edwards just say we have "two education systems - one for the affluent"...uh, like Democrats that put their kids into private schools John? Where are your kids going to school John?
Edwards is whining that there is "two Americas"...yeah, those who play by the rules and those who sue the crap out of everbody.
Talk about ridiculous populism and class warfare BS..."we'll say NO to kids going to bed hungry"! Huh? All those fat, overweight kids that won't get off the sofa?
What a buffoon.

Edwards talking about living in poverty. Poverty for Edwards would be not being able to have a beach house and living in a house that doesn't have an electric garage door opener.
