This kinda sport is widely accepted in many parts of the world. Different cultures. I saw dog fights that were held in tents in korea many years ago.

In most native villages in Alaska, the village dogs are not fed; they are supposed to fend for themselves. Had the village grandmother tell me once to stop feeding the dogs scraps as it is not the native way. Only the strongest survived and dogs killing other dogs was common. All puppies were automatically shot at 4 months to make room for more puppies for the kids to play with. I figured why don't they just get them spayed, but that was out of the question. It all seemed quite normal to the natives and at least these scroungy dogs chased the bear out of the village.

Cops know about these things. Here in NC on highway 126, there is a rooster "farm." These birds are chained up separately under split 55 gallon drums (about 60 of 'em). What does someone do with 60 roosters except to harvest them for cock fights. Either the cops are in on this, or turn a blind eye. BTW, cock fights are supposedly illegal in NC.

knak, over 20 years ago I assisted the investigation and prosecution of several dogfight rings in this and neighboring counties. It's a sick, sick business- reminds me a lot of the child-porn & pedophile groups with their secret cells. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Being somewhat new to FR I must admit I am suprised at the postings on this issue. If I did not know better I'd think I was on a PETA site! It seems to me that the folks calling this sick have watched one too many Disney movies.

I grew up on a farm and trust me when I say that dog fighting is as natural as rain falling. They do it all the time on their own so why should it not be enjoyed & bet on?

For those of you that believe in God didn't Genesis say that God put the animals here for us to use? I do not remember seeing a list of rules in the Bible.

THESE are the human debris that gives the pit bulls a bad name. Properly bred and socialized they can be very nice. But the breed is being destroyed by the fight organizers (not to mention every two-bit hood who thinks it's cool to own a pit bull, beat him, and feed him cayenne pepper.)
