Rush's PERFECT comments Re: Donovan McNabb

For those who missed it, Limbaugh performed the most perfect comments on Donovan McNabb this morning by not even mentioning his name.

Instead he contrasted the way that Payton Manning came out and took responsibility for his performance against the way that the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them.

It was the best revenge, because by not mentioning McNabb, no one in the media can say that Rush attacked McNabb, but to all us football fans, what Rush DIDNT say, was LOUD AND CLEAR. Thanks Rush!

You answered it yourself. During that era the AFC lacked playoff caliber defenses so the Bills never ran into a real playoff game until they got to the Superbowl. Once they found a real defense to play against, and one that was playing post season tough, they lost.

I doubt Levy meant that he coached the SBs with no regard for the level of opposing defense.

His third year will be the deciding factor. He's shown some good stuff, with his last game being the best one since becoming a Lion. I'm just looking forward to seeing Charles Rogers play again.

I am not disparaging Rush on he job in the position per say - I think ESPN either wanted the publicity when it hit the fan or was under some strange impression of what was about to happen.

Playoff defense isn't regular season defense. Productive receivers during the season disappear in the playoffs if they aren't good enough. I'd put 50% of the blame on these receivers, the other 25% each on McNabb and the play calling.

47 yards?? For pro team playing in the Super Bowl, you should not have a kicker o n your rsoter who finds 47 yards out of his limits.

NFL revenue sharing isn't across the board. The home team gate is unshared, most of the memorabilia percentage stays with the team whose logo is on the junk. TV revenue is pooled and distributed evenly, as is the away team percentage of the gate (as of the re-organization, it didn't used to be that way).

The reason there is a cap is to avoid the problem the NHL is having. Trying to out bid each other teams go crazy, your average NHL player is making about 2 mil more than your average NFL player but the teams are only making about 1/3 of what an NFL team makes. There's a really good chance the NHL could drop back down to a 12 team league with a massive rash of bankruptcies. That's what the NFL was trying to avoid and they've done a good job. Meanwhile the cap creates parity which brings in viewers and increases revenue.

I understand that Terry Bradshaw was the only one to pick Carolina in the Fox pre-game. So commentators are entitled to be wrong with their opinions. Obviously, neither honesty nor accuracy is a mandatory qualification, so on that basis, Rush has as much right to be there as anyone else.

I'd take Rush' commentary over those two idiots on the network, Tom Jackson and Sean Salisbury, anytime. Salisbury said, after the Rush statements, that McNabb was one of the top three QB's in the league. Shot to hell his credibility instantly.

Levy said outright he planned for playoff and SB games exactly the same way he planned for regular season games and told his team to do the same. Apparently he didn't believe defenses took it to another level in the playoffs, playing in the AFC during that era I can understand why he'd make that mistake (the AFC really blew then, and I'm a Steeler fan so that's hitting my own). I can only go by what the guy said, no extra film, no extra practices, no extra planning, treat it like a regular game. He took the concept of "dance with who brung ya" a little too far.

And 25% on attitude. The Eagles (as a team) did not look good from the start (with a few exceptions, I remember a few plays where McNabb had a huge amount of time and defense was not all that bad).

37.5% on the receivers! Just kidding...no doubt there's blame to go around in this loss. And the pressure will only mount. The Eagles (and their fans) realize the window of opportunity only stays open so long...may already be closed.
