I'm not one of those claiming it was a cheap shot. I'm just saying it shouldn't have happened if the refs had seen it and blown it dead. That's life -- the refs miss things all the time.

This one was totally about race from the get go, and Rush didn't start it - he merely called out the Countdown crew on it. He reacted to the same thing I saw on the program from Week 1.
But I agree with you that, in other instances, certainly the media doesn't accurately describe the accomplishments and failures of many athletes, and that inability often has nothing to do with race and everything to do with incompetence.
To: pickemuphere
Rush was clearly 'demonstrating absurdity by being absurd' today. He was lampooning the hypocrasy of the sports press; their contradictory treatment of Manning vs McNabb.

HOWEVER, we don't know if perhaps the COACH made the decision, and McNabb had no say.
In a championship game? While you are losing? With your backup doing a horrible job?!? You would have had to haul some quarterbacks out of the stadium in a straight jacket.

oh, I know its all about race....
fact is ....the more they ( the media, the PC crowd) push racial themes, the more most people reject them and root for the other guys just because they are white.....agree?

yeah, I'm sure you put those NFL guys to shame, clicking a mouse with a brain injury. Huh? My point is that Steve McNair is 20 times the QB that McNabb is, and has played through pain for years, without anyone using that as an excuse for poor performance.
To: wasp69
Perhaps the coach was advised that the injury was serious and playing could result in loss of the QB for the next year...I don't know...just trying to be fair about it....I am not particularly a McNabb fan...I am SICK and TIRED of the media building him up and covering for him....but I think it is possible that the doctor and coach advised him not to play.
To: Libertarian4Bush
Just be happy that the big bad black QB is out of the playoffs. Again, you miss the point entirely. I praised McNair, and criticized McNabb's apologists. How you failed to comprehend this, or saw it as racism is beyond me. Last time I checked, McNair was black.
To: cherry
Ok, I'll go along with that, but will reserve rebuttal time for any necessary limitations, modifications etc..
Didya know the Panthers are going up against the #1 QB in league history in terms of winning percentage? Hard to believe that Brady has made that kind of an impact in his first few years in the league.
I don't know how many others agree with me, but I think this will be a fascinating Super Bowl matchup. I like sound defense more than overpowing offense, I guess.
To: Pukin Dog
the media instantly set out to blame the Eagles' wide recievers for what happened to them. I watched the game---it WAS the wide receivers.
To: montag813
Last time I checked, McNair was black.Unlike Michael Jackson.
To: LS
I agree with your comments here. Also, the Panthers were really in his face, and he did not do well because of that.
To: Land of the Free 04
I watched the game---it may have been the wide receivers on TWO of FOUR.

Four what? Interceptions? One of those was Detmer's, so is irrelevant to McNabb's performance.
To: Pukin Dog
I was working in sports the year Manning was the number one pick in the NFL Draft. At that time, I knew he would be successful, because his work ethic was so apparent in his comments to the press that day. He made no big, bold predictions about how anything was going to go (in contrast to Ryan Leaf, who referred to Manning and himself as "(draft) picks 1A and 1B", and spoke of how he was going to lead the Chargers to the Super Bowl) - he just talked about how much work he knew was ahead of him.
He had a bad day yesterday, and maybe he's not quite ready for the Super Bowl, but he's surely getting there and he is going to be a dominant QB in the NFL for a long, long time, I think.
I love the guy, and I love his attitude. This just confirms it again.
To: montag813
..AND, McNair doesn't choke under pressure and has led his team to the Super Bowl, unlike McNabb.

You're quite right. The one thing you can't do when you're standing on the sidelines while your team is struggling to win is throw interceptions. Certainly can't blame McNabb for that!

Rush stepped on his pecker big time with his stupid remarks about McNabb back in the fall; he should really let it go. McNabb was overrated, but it had nothing to do with his race.
And from what I saw of the games yesterday, the Eagle receivers DID f-up, as did Deer-in-the-headlights Manning, under the onslaught of the Pats pass rush.
