It is not a matter of not understanding a protest vote, my friend.

It's a matter of looking honestly at what the 3rd parties have done in the off-years since the last election. None of them have generated any significant growth, presence, or following. They haven't pursued public affairs, they haven't sought in any noticeable way to win hearts and minds.

In other words, they've sat on their hands. They've been NEGLIGENT. And given what they say are crucial times and crucial issues, they've been GROSSLY NEGLIGENT.

These organizations have no credibility as places with which one can register a "protest vote" because they have not used the TALENTS that they have already been given.

Besides, given the overwhelming certainty of a democRat or Republican winning this election, then all these numbers will mean is an opportunity for a liberal media to use it against your one real hope to keep this nation safe and secure.....the re-election of George W. Bush.

Perhaps these "Conservatives" think that losing is better than winning???

Yes, they do believe just that. To "teach us all a lesson," doncha know?

Read their posts. That's exactly what they want. A Democrat in the White House.

It is the hope and prayer of Karl Rove that most of us will be "Good Lemmings" and do what we are told. When we become obedient little pod people, proposals like Amnesty-on-the-Installment Plan are shoved down our throats.

This is a great idea, and thanks for facing the predictable fire and posting it.

Me? I'm writing in Tom Tancredo.

I don't think Bush ever said he would offer a post to Alan. I can't see what good that would have done him. Alan is a very unstable man.

Truer words were never spoken.

I'm curious. Is there any point at which either of you would finally vote 3rd party?

Nice set up question.

I do vote GOP, but I'm an Independent. I place my vote where the probablity of getting what I want inches towards one. Protest voting would make it rush towards zero.

Also, look at how it is with the American people. 99.999999% of the people either vote Pub, RAT, or not at all. That other 0.000001% of the people vote other ways. So between zero and one, where does the probability lie that a President will be either a Pub or a RAT?

One, that's where.

Lastly, I don't believe in Phyrric victories. Like my late uncle used to say, "You got what you wanted but you lost what you had." That's a fool's errand, IMHO.

President Bush needs a wake call and your vote is a great way to send him a message.

What message?

The e-mail doesn't say.

A vote for Keyes or Buchanan, whose moments were in '96 and '92, is a message that one can't let go of the past, or recognized the degree to which these men have marginalize themselves since then.

A vote for Tancredo is a message that one doesn't listen to Tancredo, who has said he doesn't want write-in votes.

A vote for Ron Paul is a message that one hasn't listened to what he's said on Tancredo's big issue, Illegal Aliens, where the two have fundamentally divergent views.

So, I wonder at what the message might be, whereby any of the above candidates is an interchangeable delivery system.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a big fan of coherent if quixotic primary challenges. This e-mail, however, is incoherent to me.

Who are the Citizens Lobby, anyway?

None of them have generated any significant growth, presence, or following.

Is that because people are being told that voting a 3rd party is a wasted vote?

Again, what would it take to get you to vote a 3rd party?

It is the hope and prayer of Karl Rove that most of us will be "Good Lemmings" and do what we are told.

Nobody tells me what to do in the voting booth. Nobody has to. Why do people persist in assuming that Republicans are zombies who mindlessly "go along" with whatever the Republican platform is?

We will never get 100% of what we want. Never. I'll settle for 80%, and I'll trust the leadership of the man I helped elect last time for the other 20%.

Governor Locke said it was too expensive (given our current financial situation) and by the time it would be held here it wouldn't matter in the outcome of the nominations. Or something like that. The legislature went along, so we sit this one out until November.

Oooh! Oooh! (Hand raised and waiving.) Let me answer that one.

I could vote third-party if, and only if, I'm convinced with that party's platform and all parties involved are without a doubt pro-America.

The RATS are a dominant player. Are they pro-America? Not on your life.

No Phyrric vicories!

Not a setup question at all.

I place my vote where the probablity of getting what I want inches towards one.

What will you do when a vote for one party makes it rush toward zero, and a vote for the other party makes it walk toward zero?

I believe that to be the position of the protest voters. You obviously don't feel that way and that's fine. That's not the debate here.

What would you do if you found yourself in their position?

A vote for Tancredo is a message that one doesn't listen to Tancredo, who has said he doesn't want write-in votes.

Really? When did he say this? It's not that I doubt it, but I would like to see his quote(s).

You know, this reminds me of our first President. The people would have made him a king. He declined. If people here say they will write in Tancredo even when he says he doesn't want write in votes for Prez, then that tells me that if they lived then they would have tried to make Washington a king anyway. Even though he said he didn't want that.

Very interesting.

Are you purposely misunderstanding the thrust of this idea? Surely you're not that stupid.

Often times I am, but there is no doubt that the 'thrust' of this idea is contained in my Post 68, which is to destroy Bush, not send him a message.
